What a worthless post.
That article is six years old, and is reporting that the Pope faced claims, not that he did it. Like I said before, it looks like mistakes were made, and he is trying to fix them. I don't think this is anywhere near the Penn State scandal.

You're right. The scope of the catholic church sex scandal is easily in the tens of thousands.
You're seeing the report and not the content. This is how the church handled thousands of documented reports of abuses. To which he was directly involved.
I'm not denying the scandal, or its horridity (is that a word?), but I fail to see how he was directly involved. On the contrary, I am finding it hard to find any evidence of him being involved other than trying to rectify the problems the scandal caused.
Again, I could be way off base, which is why I asked you to provide some linkage or proof -- what I got was a, "But guys, Paterno didn't rape any kids." I'm ready to be proved wrong.
The bottom line is, as much as you might not like him, for whatever reasons, you can't deny that he has helped millions of people worldwide over the years. He has dedicated his life to improving the lives of others. I have a hard time when a random innerweb guy who wears skinny jean cut-off shorts calls him a piece of ****. That being said, I don't really like The Pope either.
Oh, please... I'm not trying to discredit anything you're saying, you're doing a smashing job of that all on your own. I'm still waiting for a response with any type of substance or thought.

When you talk about the pope helping people are you talking about the charity work the catholic church does? I really don't see how the pope as an individual helps people other than to be a creep that is worshiped like a semi-god.
Millions of pious folks focus on the Pope as the earthly leader of God's Church. . . . with a diverse range of sentiments across the whole capacity of human variance. You don't become the Pope by living in a cloister, but by establishing relationships with many other priestly folks who generally do a significant amount of public service. You get "elected" because of your leadership qualities.
But as leader, it appears that in this matter he has failed, when reliably informed of the problem, to take sufficient actions to correct it. Well, there have been, and will be substantial financial consequences.
That said, religious organization are human institutions in the most practical sense that they are managed by humans, and the failings of humans are just that.
come on, Numberica. Let's discuss the facts the same way you might discuss the news that a serious atheist proponent might actually be advocating normalizing man/boy love. Would that constitute a refutation of atheism?
