What's new

Portland Trail Blazers @ Utah Jazz -- Friday Feb. 23rd 7pm MST

Mitchell set guys up and they didn't pull the trigger or missed. And he had several desperation shots near the end that didn't fall. The numbers don't tell the whole story.

It’s bound to happen. I hate long rests as they can kill rythym. Let’s get this back tomorrow and, if anything, I do believe this set back increases our chances of a win vs. Houston.

Sure as hell didn't kill Portland's rhythm. They were coming off a great win over Golden State, we were coming off a less-than-stellar win over the Suns. Tomorrow we'll see where we're at.

How did Rubio look coming back from injury? His numbers look like the Rubio of earlier this season.

Makes us a bit hungrier and more driven to get that W, perhaps.

How the hell did Neto get injured over the ASB? Would it have mattered for him to be healthy?

then marry her...

But seriously, the long crap and game on the mobile is a sensible compromise, maybe pretend to have diarrhea and go home early?

Maybe one day. We don't believe in marriage or that it changes much how we are living (wait, I am in denial again? lol)

Just got home. I checked the score midway through the 3rd quarter and it looked I wasn't missing much. So pretending to have diarrhea wasn't necessary. Although I had so much food (spicy!!!) that I may end up with real diarrea, like the ones people get after eating 10 churros, green curry or a couple of chilly tacos

Didn’t look too good. That’s why I was concerned about him not playing that game before the ASB — I wanted him to maintain some rythym.

Let me preface this by saying I love Donovan, I adore him, and I will live or die by Donovan always. That doesn’t mean we can’t just kind of call it how it is a little. He didn’t play terrible by any means, but he missed 3 straight 3s which were not desperation as the Jazz closed it to 11 and 9 in the 4th. He then missed a layup with a bad bounce of the ball during that same stretch. That fine, other games they went in and it worked out there’s gonna be nights like this, and I’m happy he’s the kind of guy willing to take those shots.

Truth is he’s had about 4 straight games, plus that rising stars game where he hasn’t been able to score efficiently. He’s missed jumpshots and in the paint. This is exactly what a rookie should be doing, and I don’t be worry about it, but don’t ignore it either. Donovan can shoot 1 for 100 and it’s not going to change my mind on him, but he can be close to perfect and have some games that aren’t. Being honest about Donovan is not being critical of him. He’s had a rough stretch of shooting nights, they’ll pass and consistency will come with more years in the league.

Mitchell and Ingles shot very well from the 3 in the first half, but everyone else were bricking from outside. Then when DM and Joe quit hitting their 3s, there was no one to pick up the slack.

How in the hell did the Jazz lose if you ate 10 churros? Something is amiss

True. By desperation I meant that we were down by a lot with how much time was left and no one else was stepping up. At that point AB, Jerebko, Ingles, etc. had possessions where they passed on shots and wasted time off the shot clock. O'Neale was 1-8. Favors was worthless. I don't remember who exactly was on the court at the point he missed all of those shots but it was obvious he was the only option. But I agree that his shot has been off for a while now.

Meh. We had no business winning in Portland without Ricky, so losing last night wasn't a shocker when Ricky was hardly himself.

I was thinking to myself why was Royce in at the pointy end of the game (I know I know, he is amazing blah)... But his impact meant he was a -5 versus Ingles and Favors (-27 and -20 respectively)....

I am not sold on the guy - but....

Which tells how bad he shot in the second half. He shot 8/20 and shot 1 free throw.

I guess I didn’t understand what you meant by desperation. Because I do see Donovan have to take lots of desperation 3s I feel bad for him about where guys throw him the ball 5 feet beyond the arc with 3 seconds to shoot. Last night his shots were with plenty of time on the shot clock. I rewatched a little of the 4th and he also missed a pull-up free throw line jumper. Usually at least half of those shots fall for him, last night was just a bad night. And yeah the team just looked a mess last night, it was far from Donovan’s shooting that killed the Jazz last night it was just everything. It was one of those nights we’ve seen several times this year where this team looked like the worst team in the league at times.

I think Donovan is going to be allowed to be Donovan, his leash is going to continue to be extremely long, which is great. I just hope he doesn’t lose confidence in his shot or start to question himself taking all those shots. I really like his jumper and release and I hope he has the confidence to keep shooting even if this rough stretch continues. He’s got some weight on his shoulders but luckily I think everyone from fans, to the coaches, to his teammates are behind him 100%. I hope he keeps shooting.

4/10 from 3 is 40%. That's a solid percentage. He just missed some layups.
