What's new

Post songs that you discovered you like way after the fact

This cover of Wonderwall actually got me into Oasis.

And for whatever reason i didn't get into Nirvana until i was in Uni, it started with the leadbelly cover...

it also took me forever to get into Paul Kelly, at some point his music just clicked for me, we have some mutual friends and I've been lucky enough to have some beers with him over the years, fabulous bloke.

Reign O’er Me by The Who.

Probably heard it somewhere as a kid. I’m not sure. My dad used to play records pretty often but I don’t recall any of The Who. Anyway, I saw the very end of that Sandler/Cheadle movie about nine years ago and heard the PJ version of it. Then I checked out The Who’s original. Phenomenal. Daltrey absolutely crushes it.

I grew up on The Who on vinyl. Awesome ****.

Listening to Tool at the moment on my way to the comedy festival to see Dan Kitson. Never got into them years ago

TOOL. My god.

My girlfriend bought me Pearl Jam's first album and I somehow missed how good it is.

Noel Gallagher did a rendition that has a lot of similarities to that cover.

More Oasis talk. I would have never associated Placebo with them (my only familiarity with Placebo is any of their commercial stuff and it’s been years [decades?] since I’ve heard anything). Anyway, their first album is one of those ones that, top to bottom, is amazing. Here’s one of my favorite songs from it:

Other albums that I find great too to bottom is Sarah McLachlan Surfacing, Depeche Mode Violator, Smashing Pumpkins Machina, Type O Negative October Rust. There’s more, I’ll think of them.

Speaking of albums, how does that work nowadays? You used to buy the album. Now you buy songs. How are people even releasing this stuff in the digital age?

That Noel Gallagher song is awesome.

Not a new discovery, but I remember when, in about 2000, I first heard this album. I always loved People Who Died, but never heard anything else. He is now one of my favorite all time artists.
