Potential Trade Targets

Man… I’m starting to talk myself into Zach Lavine… not all the way… but I feel it coming on…

I know he’s fully canceled but queue the R Kelly…

“My minds telling me no… but my body… my bodyyyyyyyyy’s telling me yeah”
Its weird. As much as I dislike Lavine and the archtype he represents, I'm actually in the same place mentally. Have to remind myself constantly about the 45M/y contract number.

I think its sort of like a Stockholm syndrome caused by being trapped with our current mid guards, and you cannot deny that whatever Lavine may or may not be he is still a clear cut upgrade over any of them.

I see Ochai's name tossed into a lot of potential trades. At the start of the season I would have been very much set against that, but he hasn't quite turned the corner I expected by this point. He has his moments, but so did Dok.

Dude… I had the same overwhelming feeling and thought on my drive to work this morning.

just the opposite for me i feel revultion at the mere thought. knowing you get a guy who is just good and should be paid less than 20 million a year and you get saddled with that contract for several more years. just yuck.

a one play sample size means nothing. Actual data over a large sample size with peer comparisons does provide something however. You are just doing your thing tho so I get it.
Lmao. Jesus Christ

The point is you can't just look at miles traveled and conflate that to proper movement. Herman is doing what he always does. Finds a stat that fits a narrative and conflates it.

Ah but you can just look at one play.

LMAO indeed

TU was building a narrative that I was just debunking with those stats. Making that distinction shouldnt be a hard task.

You intervened in a discourse where you had no stake to begin with and once again made a fool of yourself.

Also he is not Jesus Christ, but fish.

Warming up to LaVine is the result of the “so this is the Fünke everyone’s been talking about” effect.
For me its just this weird space we've chosen to operate in. We really aren't ready for the big star trade. We likely won't pay market for an "untainted" star cuz the market will be wild with OKC, NY, Indiana having some compelling offers. LaVine's biggest issues are decision making on offense and being engaged on defense... I think those are some of the same things we have helped Collin with... if Zach figures some of that out then its a much bigger hit.

When we got Collin we thought if you squinted a little he could be a budget Don. Hasn't quite worked but has made progress. Zach is higher on that "Don Spectrum". Its this wandering through the dessert thing that has me kinda reaching. If they moved towards a tank or development that is likely the longer road but smarter path... but if you are going to hang out in the "maybe we can make the play in" dessert while retaining Lauri then you need to try something to find a star player while you wait for these picks to become real... no?

I'm still at my price of Collins, One of JC or Sexton (or they could go to a third team for expirings for the Bulls), Ochai. I don't think they bite on that yet.... but if he comes back and they suck it will get closer. Chicago is going to make a "bad" trade imo... DA loves that type of stuff.

Intervened? I literally started teh "Dejounte is overrated discourse" in this thread...

Please just stop fishing stats and conflating them. You dont watch ball.

Again, the video is just an example of simple movement data being relatively useless. Just because you run around doesn't mean you are doing something

With Lavine the compelling thing is he is like a top 12 scorer the last 4 years or so when you consider volume and efficiency. He's also been in the worst type of situations basketball-wise. He was looked at as the potential solution to one of those basketball solutions but he's just not quite that good. If he is put in a situation with space, a defensive anchor, and competent coach that might limit his bad decisions... what does that look like. We also are trying to take the next step from lotto team to play in team... Zach would help that.

The bad, the decision making, defense, and the contract is stinky.

I think the Lakers should really consider it. If Lavine plays the volume scorer but then in the playoffs shifts more to an offball Michael Porter type role he could really help them. Especially if the price is like Rui, Russel and JHS.

No.

At teh end of the day Lavine doesnt make others better. With a guy like Lauri you need someone who makes people better w/ the ball in their hands, because Lauri isnt doing that.

Kuzma is supposedly on the block if anyone wants the PF version of Jordan Clarkson.

I'd probably pass, but if it's just like Collins/1st I might be interested.

You picked one video and want to act like it is somehow the end of the story. We can find a video of every player in the league getting lackadaisical on defense and losing their man. It is something that happens every once in a while.

I acted like that was teh end of the story how?

Just shows you cant take miles traveled and conflate that to quality movement.
