Potential Trade Targets

“Whatever team can get Clarkson will be a game changer,” an NBA scout told HoopsHype. “I think he’s the best of the volume scorers available on the trade market.”

I'm wondering if any Jazz trade comes sooner rather than later or if it's going to happen right before the deadline a week from today. If the Knicks are really a trade partner one would think the Knicks would want to make a trade A.S.A.P. as they sure could use KO immediately.

Happened upon Zach Lowe on the Down to Dunk podcast... its a Thunder pod. mentioned KO to OKC (after being prompted) and says he thinks Jazz may hold on to KO if they don't get a first...

I'm going to call my shot right now. KO gets moved to OKC or Philly. If it is OKC its for the Clips pick they own this year that is like 25th and won't get much higher than that... and Bertans (who is only 5M guaranteed next year).

Philly with Embiid out can really use KO and we can save them some money to get out of the tax. - If that happens it will be KO for Roco/Korkmaz #36 pick they have this year from Toronto and another second rounder in the future. KO can be the innings eater they need and can play backup when Embiid gets back.

OKC has 4 first rounders this year. I think I would not settle for the Clippers pick. I'd want our own pick back or at least their 2nd best pick if it isn't us. They aren't going to be able to use 4 picks in a crummy draft.

Good lord we are not getting our pick back for Kelly Olynyk.

You can be a hard *** in trade discussions, but you can't be an insufferable dumbass.

I guess I don't care if we move Kelly, so I'm OK not doing the deal. Hope they enjoy their draft. . .
my friend those are champagne problems. They will enjoy their draft very much.

The draft is bad but late lotto picks that also hang over teams for a couple years if they fall within the protections would yield a much better return than KO. If DA gets that deal done its because he has compromising photos of Presti with @Hearsky 's mom.

OK, I just checked and OKC cannot offer us the "Clippers Pick." Indiana already owns the worst OKC pick and that could be the Clippers Pick. They would need to specify "2nd worst pick" to avoid a conflict. So this year they actually only have 4 picks including the 2nd rounder from Houston.

My goal is to see OKC waste picks on us. If that is not possible, than to have them waste picks regardless.

I wouldn't be surprised if the deal was a simple as pushing our pick owed to the thunder from this year to next year with the same protections. Despite what is being said about this draft I really like a lot of the players projected in the 11-20 range. What this draft really lacks is star power but there are a ton of solid projected role players in the top 20 that could certainly help us long term.

They have three firsts. They get the 2nd worst of OKC/Lac/Hou/Uta but they also get the two other picks. It will either be the clips pick position or the OKC pick position and either way it’s a mid to late 20s pick. On draft night they can send out one or both of their late lotto picks for a good return. Having too many picks is like having too much money. Yeah you will not get the best use out of all your money but it’s not a “problem” and they will not be completely wasted. While they have a bottleneck there will be plenty of suitors competing against each other for their picks.

It's the downside of having so many picks. Teams feel like they can ask for a lot more and you are going to constantly be dealing with terrible trade offers because teams know you have so much.
They feel like us that they have use the draft to be a championship team so they want to "win" any trade that involves picks. It leads some teams to become misers and it hurts potential deals.

Hard pass. I'd rather extinguish our obligation and keep next year's pick. I think OKC would give us that deal straight up without anything else involved.

Maybe. In a weak draft there is likely going to be a surprise or two in the late first, and having multiple picks helps, BUT those picks come with guaranteed contracts and roster spots. Not sure too many teams are going to be clamoring for late firsts in this draft.
