I was in Malad, ID today. The lines at the first two gas stations off the first exit went out the door and around the building. No way was I going to wait. There were cops doing traffic control. People were parking far away and walking in. It was ridiculous. I decided to drive into town. There were 5 people in line at the place I found, and I saw plenty of other places with short lines to. The fact that everyone went to those first two gas stations is conclusive proof that the lottery should really be called the Idiot Tax.
When I got to the front of the line the entire Idaho powerball system crashed. Not joking. The clerk called around to other stations and everyone was down. I was just about to leave when he said, "Want to buy my ticket? I can buy another when the system comes back up." So that's what I did. When I drove past the first two gas stations again the lines were twice as long as the first time, and I'll bet the people waiting didn't even know that the computers weren't even working. I have no idea how long they remained down.
I just checked. I got all of the numbers except one, plus the powerball on my card!
Unfortunately, they weren't all on the same line.
