Pray for Reno

I go through Reno on the I-80 sometimes. Loggrad former hometown of Aparks, really, not Reno.... but what's the Dif. Northbank, Southbank of the Truckee.

The news isn't good. Floods on the Truckee. There's a railroad and the freeway, and some homes threatened.

Though I always hated that prayer, it creeped me out. My grandmother (on my father's side) had it embroidered on a little wall hanging above the bed where I'd sleep when I'd visit there and it always gave me bad dreams.

A few more days and a drier weather pattern begins to prevail for a while. Reno, and lots of places in California, Idaho have serious flooding issues. Mountain streams around Utah running high, avalanches of snow, mud, and stone.


God has delivered us from real destruction, I'm just thankful.

California is happy for the most part. Most of the state is no longer in drought conditions, and locally they think this might stick. Here in the inland empire they have good snowpack on some of the peaks and the reservoirs that have been running at half or less capacity are closing in on 90% capacity, the best that have been in 6 years or longer. And we are due more rain next week. In the northern part of the state the snowpack in the Sierras is solid and reservoirs are actually venting water. This is the time of year when California gets most of its water for the year and this year is not disappointing. Everything is pointing to a strong recovery and a wetter winter than they have had in nearly a decade.
