Pre-Season Game 5----Utah @ Clippers---Saturday October 16th @ 5:30 pm.

everybody played well... Assist numbers are astonishing considering how many newcomers played significant mins in the ball game. Jeffers, Evans and CJ made some huge contributions coming off the bench. Nice to see Watson and Bell finding their shooting rhythms. Locke mentioned many times the effort AK gave. I'm pleased with the overall game, performance of my team. Let's keep it up...

I think the Jazz's depth will carry over into the regular season. The Jazz have a couple good options at every position in case someone is having an off night.

A lot has been said about how Jefferson's ability to play the C makes the Jazz more versatile than last year. This is pretty obvious. But what I think we are beginning to see is that this versatility translates not to just a better starting line-up (most notably the move of Millsap into the starting lineup), but that the trio of Williams, Millsap, and Jefferson can be so productive, efficient, and without redundancy that we are able to move a scoring threat to the bench.

this is just my way of saying that Jefferson himself makes our starting lineup and our second unit better. I'm very happy with this acquisition, to say the least.

CJ off the bench is what I'm beginning to see. It makes sense. Bell is the 1st and 3rd man setting a defensive tone and playing 5th option on O, CJ is the lead dog on the second unit when he comes in, Deron/CJ/AK/Jeff/Sap (Memo/Okur) close halves and games. The downside is AK/Jeff/Sap all come out in that scenario, and you kind of want to have at least one of them on the court at all times. I haven't crunched all the ways to split minutes, but I don't want want to see any lineups where at least one of those 3 aren't on the court.

I dig your insight, and I'm trying to understand what you are saying here, but I think you might have made an error here.

Yeah, it should have been Memo/Fes. Even though Fes would rarely ever close anything, the way he's played so far leads me to believe Jerry might use him from time to time in very specific defensive matchups. The larger point is AK and Jeff will always close, but the last big man could vary. Healthy Memo could push Sap, but Sap and Jeff are likely the guys we will always see. Fes could alter the dynamic if he really comes on. Unlikely, but possible.

NBA.com game notes: "NOTES: Davis received a technical foul from referee Scott Twardoski with 6:42 left in the third quarter after Alexei Kirilenko stole the ball from him..."
I didn't know Andrei's cousin was on our roster..

Evans was behind him (helping on the PnR). If anything, Blake dunked over CJ and Sap (helping the helper).

It was still a better dunk though. (To tell you the truth, I didn't even know if Evans was in the game at the time. I just remember Griffins dunk to sick, wicked, and nasty.)

No disagreement here.

Both of Evans' dunks on the nba.com highlights were against Griffin. The second one was a posterization.
