Teams often tell their best players to shoot less and do less because they added a mid tier starter.

Nobody's claiming that Hardy will tell Lauri to shoot less. But we're talking about a dude who doesn't have a selfish bone in his body. I don't see Lauri counting his FG attempts if the offense runs the best with, say, Collins taking some of his shots.

As someone else pointed out, Markkanen will be game planned for from day 1 this season. He doesn't force stuff, and I actually see it as an overall improvement if he can use his gravity by facilitating more. That also probably means less shots.
