Predict our top 5 players for this upcoming season

When formulating your top 5, be sure to consider not just who will have the best stats, but instead judge based on how what a player does on the court helps the team win.

1-Favors: His defense around the rim and on the pick and roll will help us a ton. And though he may still be limited on offense, he'll improve and finish a lot around the basket.
2-Hayward: Does everything well. I understand Gordon might not be great at anything, but he does everything pretty well. I think he'll make a nice jump this year. 15, 4, and 4 is my prediction.
3-Millsap: Midrange J, Heart, Hustle points, love his game. Can only imagine what he could have been were he 3 inches taller.
4-Jefferson: Even with the liability in guarding the Pick and Roll, He still has value in that you can give him the ball on the block and expect him to score almost 50 percent of the time.
5: Williams: It's hard for me to decide which Williams I should choose. I say that becasue i think Marvin will flourish in Utah's system, and Mo will likely have a good year too. If Mo can hit 43% of his three's this year (he's only done that once in his career) than i'll go with him. Of course, if he is below 40-38% everyone here at Jazz fanz will be calling for his job, and, in that case, I'd go with Marvin.

Honorable Mentions:

Foye: If he gets time at the 1, he'll be awesome defensively; We finally have someone to guard good point guards. Pg's tore us up last year. This is an underrated element of his game; According to synergy sports, he guards PG's really well and we should be excited about this. He'll shoot the three at around 37% and he'll score, but of course he isn't a true PG. could crack the top 5.

Burks: I'm interested to see how his year plays out. Playing time is up in the air right now. With Watson not ready for camp, Foye may get time at the 1 and this will open up a lot of minutes for burks at the 2. With all the uncertainty surrounding Burks, one thing is for sure: He'll score and he'll get to the line provided he's afforded the minutes.

A longstanding quirk of Jazz fans, to disparage the 36% 3 point shooter.

It's intersting to me that you put Hayward at 5. I'm a believer that Hayward will have a big year this year. you can validate my claim based on the 2nd half of last season. Beyond that, your list makes sense.

Favors, Hayward, Millsap, Jefferson and Mo Williams.

The year after I hope for Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks and Mo Williams.

Until Favors and Hayward prove and show they are our two best players, I can't put them on top

1. Al
2. Millsap
3. Hayward
4. Mo
5. Favors
6. Marvin
7. Foye
8. Burks
9. Tinsley
10. Kanter
11. Watson
12. Carroll
13. Murphy
14. Evans

I love Hayward, and Favors as much as anyone, and believe they can be our top dogs, but I need to see it first.

I think this is the biggest misconception in all of jazzfanz.

He is horrible at guarding the perimeter when guarding stretch 4's, he's not as bad as Al, but he's not good guarding pick'n roll, and not a good help defender. Millsap sets the weakest picks of any big on the team. And my biggest gripe with Millsap is he settles for those weak *** fadeaway baseline shots that have almost no chance of going in. He needs to take his man off the dribble a lot more. There are very few pf's that could stay between him and the basket. I think he relies on the fadeaway way too much, because he's lazy. Flame away.

Not too comfortable with the word "predict," huh?

He a makes it often enough that other players have to respect it and try to gaurd it. that is one of the thing that opens up his little dribble in iso play that he dose every now and then. i think it helps make his offense more complete. i wouldnt call it lazy though, but defintally less effeciant.

Did you watch him in february last year?

I agree that he should shoot when open but half the time he's not. That's when he hurts the team.

true, true. and he did have a very odd bad febuary.. he has made it at some clutch times though. and he is pretty good between 10 to 15 feet other players got to respect him. but he should try to be a little more controlled in that range.
