LAS VEGAS — The Utah Jazz already knew newly signed big man Tibor Pleiss could shoot from outside before the German center made a recent visit to the Beehive State.

While in Utah, however, the 7-foot-3 Pleiss managed to get Jazz management even more excited about having him play for them.

During an extensive shooting drill, Pleiss hit 66 of 90 3-pointers on his first day in Utah despite not feeling 100 percent health-wise.

My cousin knows a guy who used to work at a bar where a semi-professional, semi-recreational scout from Europe would frequent. Apparently in Bad Vöslau, Austria, he is touted as being Mehmet Okur, Manute Bol and Vlade Divac all rolled into one. You can pretty much take that to the bank.

But wait! There's more!

For a bonus, he's also sprinkled with a little Arvydas Sabonis as well.

Hell I'll put on a dress and some makeup if it gets me a few mill for my own show and an award at the espys.

That is amazing for a 7'3" dude. Can you imagine how good the Jazz will be if everyone plays up to their potential over the next five years?

I would imagine that jaws were on the floor as Jazz brass watched him shoot that percentage. When we got him in that trade I don't think anyone thought this was a possibility. If he is able to hit two thirds of this percentage in game situations he will become yet another nightmare for our opponents.

wow.. I hadn't even checked his %'s. Very impressive. 85% FT shooter - 50% 3pt shooter.

doesn't rebound, pass, or block worth a damn, but with his size and touch, he's a great value... and, yes, I know I am waaay behind the curve here. Welcome me.

The strange thing is that it seems that we are all behind the curve. Maybe the hype was deadened by the endless Tomic saga. I viewed Pleiss as a consolation prize, but maybe he is much more. I can't wait to actually watch him play in the NBA.

Could be like the Memphis trade when everyone said they got nothing for Pau...except that one of the "throw ins" turned out to be Marc Gasol. Not saying Pleiss will be that good, but if he gives Utah quality minutes behind Gobert, I think we are winners.
