President Assad gasses and Donald fiddles

This has the feel of propoganda. I'm skeptical that Assad did this. The parties that would gain would not be Assad, Iran, or Russia. I don't think any of them are insane batman villains. Despicable but not careless.

While I doubt it myself, there have been quite a few voices, mostly on the right, such as Alex Jones and Infowars, claiming that the gas attack was a "false flag" operation designed to bring the US into the Syrian civil war. Of course, Jones himself should not receive any attention. According to him, Sandy Hook was a false flag operation, and no children died. I can't imagine how much that must anger the parents of the Sandy Hook children. But he's not the only one going there with the gas attack in Syria....

Mods, can we change the title of this thread to either "Assad Gasses and President Trump Bombs" or "The Thriller Fails (again)"?

I feel bad for thriller. I can't imagine what it would be like to be that tied into a dogma, of any kind. It is actually one of the things that keeps me from being a staunch mormon. I have a very hard time with such rigid, original-thought stifling, philosophical positions whether from religion or politics.

Umm... pretty sure I have as many and as deep original thoughts as you even though I am a staunch Mormon. (Not sure if you intended that to be as insulting as it came out.)

Can someone explain to me why chemical weapons are such a big deal? I mean, compared to killing people with conventional weapons. Why is Assad allowed to kill people with regular bombs unmolested, but gets bombed for using chemical weapons?

Not aimed at any one individual. But try to strike up a conversation about any uncomfortable point in church history or JS's assertions of moonmen or anything of the sort, or even some of the cultural issues that have been brought up in the culture vs doctrine discussions. Anything that actual tries to take a true look at the church, even from an investigative standpoint, gets stifled pretty quickly. The church as a whole wants the sterilized version of things, and generally squashes attempts to look at the dirty underbelly when I'd is just to understand better where it all started and how we got from there to here. It should be able to withstand the toughest scrutiny but I've seen legitimate questions from legitimately investigative folks get shot down in flames both locally and on a larger scale. That is why faith is so important, which it is, but I don't think you could argue very successfully that really any religion supports full open discussion. It's really the standard M.O.

@thriller, just start your next trump hating thread already, the suspense is KILLING me right here!

really looking forward to your next thread

uh maybe it has something to do with the idea that chemical weapons cause excruciating suffering and drawn out deaths compared to getting blown to bits instantaneously. In theory, i don't know if that is true or not.

because of the "rules" of war that the united nations and Geneva conventions made.

just some rules/laws/regulation these uppity, globalist elite's make in their ivory tower that don't make SENSE!

but now that those rules are established, they dictate what goes on in the playground. i mean attacking with bombs is allowed by those "rules" so when you do it you aint that bad.
but when you do something against those rules, suddenly it is not just a act of killing people but also provocation the other parties! he is showing his might, he is straight up bullying people. so now that he crossed that line you gotta act!

it's like the joker says: their morals, their code, it's a BAD JOKE!

well bombs if they don't kill you can also be excruciating. so it is jsut retarderdness.

Info wars is not journalism don't care. Honestly neither is politifact. I don't know who did it and I haven't seen any evidence. In the absence of evidence those with the strongest motive seem to be the rebels, Isis, or even Turkey. History should give us pause and urge us(the American public) to be skeptical and ask for that evidence.

I think in this instance it is politically convenient for Trump. Dude was having a disaster first 100 days and now he doesn't just get to wag the dog but he gets to look strong where Obama was "weak".

I'm curious, what did those 59 tomahawks accomplish? Has Assad's army been defeated? Is Russia going to stop supplying him with chemical weapons? Has ISIS stopped its war on Assad? Have the 4.5 million displaced been relieved? Are we taking in refugees now?

I'm curious, what you think we've accomplished and how that leads me to "failing."

Again, I get that repubs have been so embarrassed by Trump that they're eager to call anything at this point a "win." But let's be honest, what has he accomplished? 59 missiles the other night isn't policy nor does it bring us closer to a conclusion.

As much as we don't want to think about it, Assad is our only hope. Toppling him right now could bring instability to Jordan, Turkey, and Israel.

Dogma? You mean facts? I get that you haven't read anything on this subject. Hell, doubt you could find Syria on a map. But let's do attempt to refute facts, shall we?

Again, the personal attacks do nothing but show me that you're unable to refute my facts. So maybe it boosts youth self esteem to talk trash on a message board. I get it, you need to blow off steam in your trailer after working construction. But what it says to me is that you're too intellectually inferior to educate yourself on this subject and are unable to contribute in any way to the discussion. So honey, sit in the back and enjoy the ride. Leave the real talk to professions who study and teach this for a living.
