Proposed Rollback of Transgender Protections

My apologies. I get so tired of the "both sides" rhetoric being used as a smokescreen that sometimes I overreact.

I’ll say loudly. **** both sides. By sides I mean the R and D parties. They’re both despicable to me. I’ve often compared them to mountains of ****. Ones 20 miles high and one 5. One (Current Rs) are clearly worse than the other.

But I still don’t want to condone or swim in a 5 mile high mountain of ****. Even while recognizing they are not equal. My stance is the rejection of both not attempts at equation.

Politics has always stunk. But that doesn't mean you can't evaluate a situation and say it is an especially egregious deviation from the normal level of ****.

This. Great metaphor. I feel pretty much exactly this way about the whole thing. I usually bring it up, when warranted, to counteract the tendency of one side to stand next to their own pile of ****, lovingly caressing it while pointing at the other pile of **** and screaming "how can you all not see that gigantic pile of ****?!?" (whichever side that might be at the moment)

I have long held that the 2-party system is not just a bad idea but ultimately detrimental and possibly debilitating to the republic. Of course the only thing that would be worse would be a single-party system, God forbid.

This.

Americans treat the two party system like sports - Let's say the Lakers and the Celtics. People constantly talk smack about the other team and their fan base. The blame the refs instead of the mistakes of their teams. They are often poor sports. When they win, they rub it in the other's faces. When they lose they talk mad **** about why they shouldn't have. When they win or lose the big one, they riot, and do some pretty crazy ****.

If we can't handle sports, how we gonna handle politics?

I find this thread entirely off the rails, if we could presume to lay down any track for good sense.

The D party lately has gone into the weeds of political demagoguery more than it ever did in the past, with the result that many ordinary folks who used to like to vote D just quit on it. Rs have always had some more "American" element talking about founding ideals, who have always been snubbed by the leadership. Both R and D parties are wholly-owned and privately-operated tools for a few folks more interested and more able to pay for results. Whoever sees themselves as partisans in this charade are just pretty dense or pretty willing to be blind partisans.

If anyone "believes" R or D enough to really care..... sorry..... credulity has always carried a sort of price. And you've bought the goods.
