Don't know this guy, but got my interest:

Ben Dowsett @Ben_Dowsett
Based on the conversations I've had the last few days, at this point I strongly lean toward the Jazz keeping Bryce Cotton.

I only know Dowsett as a guy who has been guest on Nate Duncan's realgm podcast.

Thanks for the article, Red. As a Bryce Cotton fan, I can only hope that Dowsett is right and the Jazz are going to hold on to him. I just have so many question marks about how this roster is going to shake down, what with a partially guaranteed contract for Motum and possible directions they could go with O'Brien, Johnson, and Hanlan. I'm WAY more confused than I was at this time last year.

In my mind, Cotton is good enough to make Trey Burke expendable. Why they haven't traded him yet is a mystery to me. Perhaps Trey's value is just too low right now or they want to see a legit PG showdown in training camp. Regardless of how it all goes down, the Jazz will miss out big time if they let Cotton slip away, especially in favor of Trey Burke. Time to cut bait with TB3.

Red, are you going to stick around if Bryce doesn't make the team?

" Ask any Jazz fan earlier this year and they would have looked at you funny and said "who's Bryce Cotton?" "

Would imagine most of them still don't know : /

Yes, I want to see how it all plays out with the Jazz. I've mentioned in the past that I really like Quin Snyder as a coach. I've just followed too closely now to not follow this team next season. Obviously, if Cotton ends up on another team, I'm going to continue to follow his career. I won't lie. Whatever team he played for, I'm going to follow them for certain. Utah is not my second home. But I've been there a few times, and hope to take my wife there someday to revisit the National Parks. As for the Jazz, yes, I like this team. Looking forward to seeing them grow.

Well, then they can't follow the team very closely if they still don't know his name. In fact, if they are fans and did not see that dunk in the last home game of last season, it was replayed up the yin yang, and that the player's name was Bryce Cotton, then are you sure they are actually fans?? Guy's been one of the story lines. How the heck can most Jazz fans not have heard of Bryce Cotton?!

Edit: the more I consider your puzzling observation, the more I think it reflects the fact that you don't want him playing for the Jazz, more then it was meant as an accurate assessment of Jazz fan knowledge.

Well, however it turns out, I wish nothing but success for Bryce. He gave us some excitement last season and I think he deserves a roster spot somewhere. And you are also welcome Red. Some posters are a little annoying when they are here in support of just one player. I don't think you're that way.
