What's new

Puerto Rico

Saw that video and I was in disbelief. A poor attempt at a photo op and then they used paper towels?! It's like he tries to find what will piss people of the most.

He's the world largest troll. Your president, ladies and gentlemen.

I think you are wrong.
You say many in the anti trump crowd want a true politician. Well why not ask the anti trump crowd on jazz fan why they are anti trump? Bulletproof posted recently that he doesn't care about trumps policies or political thoughts. He said that Trump could be doing everything right according to his job and yet Bulletproof would still be anti trump because he doesn't want a dispicable moronic idiot as our president.

I know I feel the same way.
I know many others who feel this way as well. And they should. Politics schmolitics. How about just having a decent, intelligent human being as president. That would suit many many Americans just fine.

No you don't. Everything you wrote was in agreement with what I wrote.

Maybe you don't recognize it but your "disagreement" is semantics over what a politician is. I said Trump is an ******* and not a politician. You basically said people don't like Trump because he's an ******* and should be more stately or proper. We said the same damn thing.

I didn't hate obama, bush, clinton, reagan, etc etc. I do hate trump.

You need to have a sense of nuance, Dilbert. Everybody already gets and understands what you are repeating.
Ok. I'm trying to understand what you were trying to say.

Your post a few pages ago seemed to say that we hated past presidents cause they were politicians and we now got the opposite of past presidents and we hate him too and you find irony in that. Or something. I disagree with that since I didn't hate past presidents like I do this one.
I often have a hard time understanding what you are trying to say and when I try to engage you and figure out what you are saying you seem to go into default attack/insult mode. Makes it difficult for me to converse with you.
I'm sorry I have a hard time understanding you. My bad.

I finally made one on my bucket list! DutchJazzer it's now claiming I am you. The only remaining posters are pearl and ncolorado. Trout and NAOS were crossed off early, but those ones were a gimme. So was Jamezz (RIP come back brother).

huh where and when did i claim that?

one way of measuring success is by the amount of haters :D
Maybe sometimes. I think in the case of presidents there are better ways to measure success than just how much people hate the president.

I think I said we, not you, as in the general sense of we as a nation, in general. I understand your and GF's and Colton's reason for disliking this guy. I stated the same sentiment during the primaries and I thought that background would have been remembered. What I find ironic is that people in general complain endlessly about politicians being politicians - smooth talking and saying what people want to hear and lying their *** off - and now many people got what they called for and now all we can do is bitch that our president is not a proper politician. He's an *******.

This same logic similarly applies to those who want term limits and no career politicians and now have a non-career politician who they hate for not being remotely good at politics (well, he did win so that statement is a little out on the limb).

So yeah, what I wrote wasn't any sort of a repudiation of what most rational people here are saying about the guy. However, I do see much of the left reaction as equivalent to what Obama went through from the right. People are riding his *** hard and it's gotten far too silly.

Very very good post. Thank you. I probably should have understood in the first place but thanks for taking the time to go over it again for me. Makes sense and I see where you are coming and agree. Especially about people complaining about politicians being smooth talking (lying) politicians and bitching about trump not being like that. And yes, I fall into that category too I suppose. Would interesting to see how I would feel about a president who was in your face and saying what is on his mind and being very direct and at the same time not being a despicable human being, if that makes any sense.
Not sure how I would like it. Maybe I actually prefer the complex, vague, say what I want to hear liar career politician.
I would love to get a real chance to find out.

Maybe someday we will actually get a president similar to trump as far as his brash, unfiltered style, but without the vile disgusting vomit inducing undignified douchiness. Maybe that's not possible though.

That's actually part of what makes a politician a stereotypical politician. They piss people off in a PC way that you can't fault them for. Obama actually was a divisive ******* but when he got in front of the camera he explained things in a way you had a hard time arguing with. Bush? Well, we'll leave him out of this but he was a master politician as well (although he wasn't nearly as divisive IMO).

Bottom line for me is I've appreciated every president in my lifetime after reading the decision making history and I see where this guy is coming from too. However, he's an ******* and not a good example to my children and that's what I personally think the anti-Trump crowd should focus on instead of some Obama birtherism or Katrina Bush disaster bull ****.

So I'll be an annoying *** for the next couple of years of Trump complaining when he's unfairly treated because the WWE political **** storm annoys me.

I don't care one whit about the way he comes across. But it drives me nuts how stupid he is, or at least seems to be. He tweets **** that his own administration then has to backtrack or do all they can to stifle the gag as they say "well, yeah, that's crap". And his constant need for pats on the back is already worn completely out. We get it, PR was the bigggest storm ever because only the most bigly president could have the biggest storm ever. Great storm. Big storm. Whatever. It is just that he is all style and no substance. If that stupid style had some substance backing it up then it would not be infuriating, it would be entertaining. But since it is all hot air it is just grating and old shtick now. His handlers need to be praised mightily if they can keep his leash short enough to actually get anything done, but so far it isn't looking good.

This was in my local paper this morning....

http://www.providencejournal.com/news/20171005/puerto-rican-doctors-say-relief-efforts-fall-short

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Puerto Rican physicians are urging the public to not believe reports that recovery efforts following Hurricane Maria have been anywhere near sufficient.

On Thursday, two doctors — one local and one from California — were at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University hoping to raise public awareness of the imminent health risks the U.S. territory faces if recovery efforts aren’t heightened. The doctors are part of a network of Puerto Rican physicians speaking out across the country on the “crippled” hospital system.

....Many residents are unable to access dialysis treatment, oxygen and insulin. Lines to access ATM machines, gas, food and water, are staggering, she said. Few island residents have electricity. And while recovery efforts have come to the populous center of San Juan, the island capital, many rural areas are not getting relief. Some people are killing their animals because they cannot care for them while some residents are committing suicide, she said.

“Their reality is much worse than the news conveys,” Cortes said.

Also, recently Oxfam America, the United States branch of the global anti-poverty nonprofit, took the unusual step of publicly criticizing the administration's efforts:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...sponse-in-puerto-rico/?utm_term=.fa17a018d119

“Oxfam has monitored the response in Puerto Rico closely, and we are outraged at the slow and inadequate response the US Government has mounted in Puerto Rico,” Abby Maxman, president of Oxfam America, said in a statement.

“We’re hearing excuses and criticism from the administration instead of a cohesive and compassionate response,” she added.

Oxfam America said it will pursue its own two-pronged approach in the post-hurricane response: pushing for an improved response to the crisis, and supporting local partners that are providing relief on the ground.

.....Scott Paul, senior humanitarian policy adviser for Oxfam America, said the lack of political leadership from the Trump administration prompted the group to issue its direct criticism.

“It's an unusual decision for us,” Paul told The Washington Post. “Generally speaking, in wealthy and even in middle-income countries, Oxfam doesn't ordinarily respond to natural hazards, because it assumes that the most effective response is led by the national government in partnership with local organizations and civil society.

“In this response so far, we know that there is money available if we ask for it, because this country is blessed with an enormous wealth. . . . What we haven't seen is the political leadership to leverage that,” he added.

Peurto rico was a ****show before the huricanes hit1

it is leftism and corruption that screwed it up!
the hurricane just blew away the surface and cover!

or yeah, socialism is perfect. 2 hurricanes and trump destroyed that beautifull socialist eutopia!/s

I liked this post but I'm still going to be an obnoxious *** when he's attacked over stupid **** and tell posters like Red to **** off.

The main complaint against Trump is that he's an open megalomaniac. I think most our presidents have had an ego but they weren't megalomaniacs. That's the distinction here that every Trump hater has pointing out but nobody has actually put it in that defining frame yet.

However, I don't want another megalomaniac in chief and that's why I will continue to obnoxiously go against all this annoying anti-Trump sentiment that gets spewed at every president. That is what created him, so posters like Red need to just STFU and stop annoying everyone with their garbage.
