Punxsutawney Phil Jackson making excuses

Not only did Coach Jackson claim that DWill gets away with everything, he also blamed the shot clock problems for their loss, even though the biggest mistake happened during Utah's possession, which fortunately resulted in a 3 by DWill.

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Los Angeles Lakers saw a five-point lead with 2:32 remaining turn into a six-point loss at the final buzzer after the Utah Jazz finished the game on an 11-0 run Friday.

Lakers head coach Phil Jackson was asked after the game what caused his team's stalled offense down the stretch. His reply: "The 24-second clock operator."

haha, he says:

"That stopped a break on our part. ... Fish had a nice rhythm going on a transition with a 3-point deficit and it stops the ball and starts it out of bounds. It's not right, it's just not right."

That wasn't a break at all. Utah's D was already set, the teams were trotting down the floor. What BS.

Jackson really has quite a mouth on him doesn't he?

... and after all that talk about him being wise and Buddhist and all that other BS... whatevs Phil. You are just as bad as the rest of the crap in LA.

phil jackson is a fantastic basketball coach and there's no question the broken 24 second clock disrupted the flow of the game. it's a legit complaint.

But it hurt the Jazz just as badly, although they were fortunate to make lemonade out of lemons when faced with the problem.

I'm always astounded when the guy that coached Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kobe Bryant whines about unfavorable treatment.

The biggest disruption caused Williams to rush a 3 pointer when the Jazz should have had a full possession instead of 13 seconds. It interrupted the flow of the game for both teams, so for him to make it out like LA got the short end of the stick, well, give me a freaking break.

Phil Jackson is already in postseason form

First he whined Kevin Love(?!!!) pushing people to get rebounds(and later admitting that Deenis Rodman did the same)

Then he wonders aloud as to when Pat Riley would fire Spoelstra which was classless

Then this.

I guess it isn't enough if he just has the best player(s) in the league on his team. He needs to get all the help the refs can muster

More funny stuff. This is actually listed under "pregrame praise for Jazz"

Heck, Jackson and Bryant even gave some of their sworn enemies — Jazz fans — some props.

"I enjoy coming here. The fans here are nuts," Bryant said. "This place is loud, and Utah, they play extremely well here."

Added Jackson: "I always tell players, 'Don't get too far ahead against the Utah team or Jerry's going to wrap them up here in this arena. He's going to get the fans, including the referees, involved in this, so be very careful what you ask for.' "

Really, Phil? Really? What a back-handed compliment to Sloan

Even Kobe seems more classy with his props:

Bryant on Williams, his 2008 U.S. men's Olympic teammate: "It's my opinion that he's always been the best point guard in the league. His size, his ball-handling abilities, defensive ability makes him tough. He gives us huge headaches every time we face him."

Bryant saved some of his highest pregame praise for Sloan.

"I love him. I love his tenacity," the Lakers' star said. "He's one of the coaches I would love to have an opportunity to play for."

That doesn't mean they should start making some Jazz jerseys with Bryant on the back or that Paul Millsap will lose his No. 24.

Bryant laughed when asked if he might head to Utah when his contract is up.

"Nah," he said. "I meant one of these All-Star games (or) USA."

and this:

They play that way (physically) all the time," Bryant said. "You can take the softest player in the league and put him on the Jazz and he's going to turn into a tough guy. That's just how Sloan teaches them. It doesn't change."

....no one knows what would have happen differently had the shot clock not malfunctioned....but it did and that's sometimes part of the game. Fact is the Jazz beat the Lakers last night despite Kobe going ballistic at the end with some uncanny shooting. We finally got stops, they didn't. We shot better than them, we out rebounded them, and we kept our turnovers to a managable number. Looks like we finally broke out of our home court funk....and now that we have the best record of any team on the road....we may pull away from the Oklahoma team in the next couple of weeks!

i agree i even said it in the caht.

the replay rule actually has a disadvantage of disrupting the flow. but the shotclock help disrupt the flow even more

This is the difference between Phil and Sloan... Sloan will just come out and say, "We stunk", whereas Phil whines and makes excuses... There was a possession or two where the Jazz got the rebound, had momentum and the refs had to make them stop play and take it out too...

I highly doubt that having to take the ball out from half court after about a 30 second to 1 minute delay effected the "rhythm" of Phils players... What if we fouled or called a timeout?? How is that any different?? That would stop play for a limited amount of time as well...

Dwill gets away with everything?? Oh PUH-LEEEZE... Kobe gets away with bloody murder out there!! Grabbing Bell by the arm around screens all night, using it right forearm to push off and get distance from the defender... I could go on and on... Why don't you mention that, Phil??

What a sore loser...
