What's new

Quentin Tarantino's last movie

I am a big fan, but I think this is a bad idea. These murders really happened, so I don't think his over the top style is appropriate here. Maybe he'll prove me wrong and tone things down a bit, but I could see this being really distasteful.

I didn't like the hateful 8, but that's probably the only movie of his I've disliked. Couple of others I could take or leave, but the hateful 8 pretty much sucked.

Never understood Tarantino. A lot of unnecessary dialogue and then excessive bloodshed. Imagine the conversation between Sharon Tate and Manson just before the murders. Meh.

You either love Tarantino's style or you don't. There really isnt a middle ground, at least not for most people.

There is. Me.

I don't love the violence in his movies but I do love those tense dialogues and moments and his over the top style and production value.

Not to mention it's been done - and done well. Steve Railsback nailed Manson in Helter Skelter 40 years ago.

Odd choice - but I don't buy that this is his last movie anyway

Eh. I liked the hateful 8 with all the overdone dialogue. Hate that movie Grind house with all the overdone dialogue. One of the worst movies I ever saw.

But ya, I think you are mostly right. Most either love his style or hate it. There are always a few exceptions though.

Grind House was pure ****.

I mostly like his stuff.

One of my favorites was something he wrote but didn't direct "True Romance." Lot's of awesome performances from great actors in that one.

There wasn't one. Manson wasn't involved in the murders other than ordering them. Basically, from what I can tell, he was an emo little bitch who had a record deal turned down by Candice Bergen's bf and wanted to have them muderered in retaliation. Only they were no longer the tenants and his ******* crew ****ed up.

Never been a Tarantino fan. He has a few gems, but most of his really popular stuff I think is pretty much crap. I like Inglorious and Djengo was not bad. I also liked reservoir dogs. I am not super thrilled to see what he does with this story. TBH I am not sure this one needs a movie. Sounds like it might end up being along the lines of torture porn, and the victims deserve better treatment than that. Not sure what exactly could be done with this story really to elevate it at all.

Who would people cast as Manson? There were Pitt rumors. Holy Christ that would be bad. And yes, I've seen Kalifornia and 12 Monkeys and love them.

That dude from always sunny kinda looks like manson. Charlie Day.

Based on talent and look, if he put on a little weight, Jared Leto is the first guy who comes to mind.

Considering the story, I'm surprised that a major movie about this hasn't been done before. I think they did one a few decades back, but it seemed to be a low budget documentary type of production.

I'm curious, have any of you read Bugliosi's book, "Helter Skelter?" Fascinating read.

Creepy stuff

Please no.

I think his costars got enough turds in baggies and used condoms in Suicide Squad. No more Leto...

You're gonna not want to see him because??? Because that movie sucked and you stupidly chose to go see it?

Directors make movies. QT is a great director. Leto is one of the best actors working at being able to create a character and he's got the basic look for it.

I don't think you read my post. Try reading it first and then respond.
