I just notice right now that my DMV Registration Sticker on my license plate, was stolen off of my truck and I'm not quite forsure how I go about getting a new one? Has this happen to anyone and do you know the best way to get a new sticker? Thanks!!!!

Um, maybe call the DMV and ask them? I'd bet you probably have to pay a small fee to get a new one.

Thank I just tried the DMV but there closed on Fridays :( Man I'd love to have Friday off! And I called over to Jiffy Lube and they told me that I need to work this out with the DMV and that it's tough to get a new one...I'm just hoping that its easier then this guy made it sound!!

Seriously though, Who steals a Registration Sticker?

This is more common than you might think. One strategy is to apply the sticker to your plate, then make several cuts across it with an exacto - so if someone tries to peel it off, they get little pieces instead of a nice complete sticker.

Call the police and make a police report so it can be listed as stolen. People will steal this stickers and place them on stolen vehicles in hopes that it wont be reported to anyone but the DMV. Once you have the police report then take it to the DMV and they will issue you a new one.

Another strategy, which also helps protect against stolen plates, is a clear plate cover. It doesn't have to be all that super sturdy, just enough to make yours harder to take than the next guys.

People who don't want to register a car?

When I was younger I let my registration expire a few times. After several months driving around with expired tags I would finally get it registered and twice within a few days of getting my new stickers I'd get pulled over for registration and they'd check my receipt for paying my registration. No other violations. Made me wonder what the deal was.

Even if you get pulled over you will be fine if you have the registration papers in your car. That will prove that you have it registered and just tell the cop what happened. When Monday rolls around then go get a new sticker.

I happen to know from experience that the cop knows if your car is registered just by punching your license plate number into his computer. My tags were a TINY bit over (13 months) and the cop was sitting across from me at a stoplight. He ran my front plates, waited for me to pass, then pulled me over.

Moral? Take off your front plates.

Funny side-story: I failed to pay my ticket on time and they issued a warrant for me. I went to see the judge and he tacked on approx 200 bucks to my ticket. I set up a payment plan (because that's how I roll, yo) and forgot to make the third and final payment. Another warrant was issued, and when I went to see the judge, he sentenced me to FIVE DAYS in jail. Keep in mind that my record is spotless, not even a traffic violation. Hooray for the South Jordan Justice Court!

Moral? Pay your stupid $45.00 dollar tickets. On time.

Anyone besides me think that the moral should be 'register your tags' on time?

Yeah, the Utah justice system is pretty much ***-crazy. They take "The Broken Window" theory to a 'probably unconstitutional' level.
