Quietly Exum and Lyles 6 for 7 shooting the rock and suppose to be busts

Just out of curiosity, what are the most important things for you guys that Dante and Trey need to work on this off season?

For X it's contested and uncontested shooting and maybe shooting mechanics.

For Lyles it is defense and hustle and passing.

i'd like Dante to jump into a time machine and fast forward to when he's 26 and a terrific player.

but for next year.. a bloody pull up 14 - 16 ft shot. He's either attack all the way to the basket or shoot a 3

You are basing your topic on 1 game from 90 or so this season.

I'm not basing it off the regular season ,only this playoff game ......much more important and more pressure based than a regular season game. How a player responds when 4 games won gets you closer to a NBA Championship or 4 losses your season is done shows if you can perform under the spotlight. This is why so many here want to see if a young players energy and focus can be channeled and be counted on when the stakes are so high.Regular season is done,it's national tv time and the bright lights are on.

Exum: more strength, 3 point shot, keeping a defender on your hip when in the lane (like Hill and Hayward can do), using body as shield when going for a layup.

I think Exum,Lyles and Burks get better just by getting stronger.Put them on a rigid summer program, not to bulk them up but to run.Snyder has to speed up the tempo of the Jazz.

Whatever Hayward and Gobert tell them to do this offseason they should do it. End of story

Dante's shooting seems the obvious one as mentioned by many of you. If he can sort that out, the game will open up for him so much. Instead of his opponent sagging off him, daring him to shoot, he'd command respect. That potentially has the defender marking him tighter, which could mean easier blow-bies with that crazy quickness X has. I also think he needs to improve on his handle, and decision making at times.

Lyles needs confidence, the dude has talent but he has retracted into his shell so much with everything that has happened, his defense and rebounding need to greatly improve. His effort on those aspects is nowhere near where it should be. I still believe though, he's very young still.

Exum needs Hill to leave and to be told you are the man. When Hayward was told he was our guy, he worked to earn it. We have shown time and time again this year that we can do well without Hill. A good off-season and Exum wont be long from being better for us.

Lyles just needs to move in with Gobert and shadow him all summer. He could pick up good habits, work ethic, etc. He is the perfect compliment to Rudy if he could get his schit together.

All true. If Exum can get some more run these playoffs and prove himself to the organization, based on how much Hill may demand, we may not have a choice.

X : Ballhandling, finishing off balance

Trey : Psychology

Hill will be a burden. And he made his peak, he is not gonna be this good again. (which isnt that good considering he missed a lot of games.) Not logical to re-sign him. There are many free agent pgs this summer, we should sign some of them with the same Money we could throw at him. D-Rose best option i think, or we can even go after Teague or Lowry...

Exum Goals:
1) Learn how to slip screens (watch Chris paul film)
2) Shore up handle
3) Be more confident
4) Work with a shooting coach every day

Time to give Exum playing time this series ...all the headlines are How are the Jazz going to adjust to GS speed.Jazz have the fastest guy sitting on their bench while us Jazz fanz watched continuously Mack trying to catch up to his defensive assignment with heavy feet.
Exum is healthy NOW ,theirs no reason for us to wait til next year to see if he will be a contributor to wins while Jazz dreams are fading and guys that quite possibly won't be a Jazz member next year get the playing time instead.Time to see if he can be the PG for Jazz if Hill bolts for his last big payday this offseason.

I agree with this, but a large portion of why CP3 can slip screens is because he is half of Exum's size.

Maybe Exum's goals start tonight ................ If you play tonight ,breathe in the moment and offensively don't make the Jazz a 4 against 5 team.Play to your strengths (fu#k the 3 pt shots}take it strong at Zaza.
Defensively ....don't reach ,the refs don't respect you and don't foul the 3 pt shots.

No doubt, he is smaller, but re-watch some of the Clippers series. When a screen comes, he anticipates it in advance, and is already set to move around it. He steps towards where the screen is coming, and makes the screener be in the wrong spot, slips it, or forces them into a moving screen. Now watch Exum (or Hill) on a pick and roll defend. Exum seems surprised every time the screen comes, often getting caught on it. Commit hard to going under or over (over is good against GS). Not sure if the screeners man is not calling out the screen or what, but I think Exum is a very good defender, but his inability go anticipate and react to a screen hurts him a lot.

Shooting is something improvable if you keep practicing but im not sure about ballhandling and Exum really sucks at this. Sometimes the ball just escapes from his hand like he pushed a button in a spaceship controller. He has so much upside but also too much flawed.

In 26 minutes(combined 2 gms) against Golden State Exum is 5/9 total and 2/5 from 3pt line and 2/2 from FT's for 14 points. He has 4 assists ,2 steals and 2 TO's.Exum is earning his minutes and should get more.
