Post Game
jazz are really 10-3 smh, if trae wasn’t ****ing abysmal tonight we woulda won
The Jazz got lucky as **** they honestly did nothing deserving of a win here
Trae finishing with 0 free throws that Gucci Mane ref trolled the **** out of us
For what it’s worth - Trae Young has taken the second most shots per game in the NBA, and he has the third lowest FG percentage in the NBA. We are lucky to have the record we have.
The biggest and most glaring problem on this team when it comes to shot distribution, though, is that Justin Holiday is 4th among rotation regulars in shot attempts per minute, ahead of every big man on the roster. He is shooting more than everyone other than Trae, DJM, and Dre, and even Dre is only slightly ahead of him. He should be below JC, Capela, and OO at the minimum.
You sir have hit the nail on the head.... dude (JHol) is Delusional....he thinks he's a "Sniper" he's so indiscriminate in jocking up all those low percentage shots!!! But then again I blame Nate & Trae for allowing this! I'd much rather the rookie AJGrif taking those shots!!!!
What a waste of a great comeback.
When we were up 10 we missed a few chances to go up 12/14....just no focus after all that work.
Then the 4th was weak.
So disappointed after having hope restored.
First off credit to Utah. I had not watched a game of theirs this year so this was my first time seeing them up close. In short, we were lied to about their roster. They don't have stars but that team is very deep. They have a bunch of guys that could be solid rotation players on any team in the league. That is hard to deal with on a random NBA night. I don't think they are a scary playoff team, but that team will do damage on a random NBA night when everyone isn't locked in.
Wow... I was thinking the same thing. I couldn't watch the game in it's entirety...Why? What I noticed is that with no on ball pressure at the point of attack game is over! Conley.. the cerebral vet was super comfortable All night. That's a problem for this team....& all you gotta do is go back to the Bucks game & watch AHoli & Dejounte disrupting the point of attack...no body on the Bucks was comfortable that game. I'm old school & what I know is " Defense wins championships" And finally who told Jhol he's a sniper & has the green light to jack up 3s indiscriminately? That's a problem
Trae is getting paid like an All-NBA player now. He simply cannot have some many poor shooting nights like this anymore.
Trae wasn't great he continues to be in his slump but he certainly wasn't the reason we lost for sure. Our bench got ****in cooked and couldn't hold a lead. Jalen Johnson in particular was awful out there missing several open layups and being uncharacteristically bad on defense. OO17 was invisible for large portions of his time out there too. Just not a good night for the bench, **** happens.
Slumps are slumps but shooting 28 times during the slump isn’t ideal
Terrible 4th quarter, some bad shot selection by Trae, poor adjustments from Nate…Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory tonight.
Oh and Trae is shooting way too much period. I’ve seen too many games where he’s just gunning
Jazz shot the ball terribly until they didn’t.
Lost to a team that employs THT smfh
It really was like playing 4v5 with Trae on defense tonight. It'd be nice to see more effort from him on a nightly basis on defense, especially when he's selling on offense.
When was the last time we beat the Jazz? Feels like we can never get a game off of them.
It’s infuriating. 29 different teams to play against and Nate’s got one game plan for them all.
Trae def sucked *** cheeks this game but our bench lost us this game. Just an awful showing from them
I ain't even mad tbh. It sucks we blew that 10 point lead but the Jazz are good af holy ****. They're 10 deep. Sexton, Beasley, Gay, THT, and Kessler is a great bench. And then obviously they got a good starting lineup with Conley, Lauri, Clarkson, Vanderbilt, and Olynyk. If they stay healthy and don't blow the team up at the deadline they're playoff-bound for sure.
Seriously, the way they were talked about as the worst team in the league is pretty absurd looking at this line-up. The media just missed this one.
pretty safe to say they are going to win more than 23 games.
We would have lost this game last year
We still lost
Yeah, it was a close loss to a good team. No point in losing our minds about it.
At least hawks ain’t get cooked like the knicks did. Those dudes are down almost 40 lmao
Jazz are legit damn. Lauri a hooper & their depth is crazy
Very bad loss . Not because of the opponent , I think Utah are legit good but because we found the formula in the 3rd to blow the game away but the team just stopped mid game. Rotations were awful and shot selection was trash. The league is too tight this year to drop games like this . If we lose tomorrow on the back to back then our record is average again. We simply have to win games where we have leads . If we don’t then we can expect to be middle of the pack again . Which is the most boring place to be in the NBA
Malik and Lauri hitting 6 threes each is crazy
This was a game that was defined by the difference in 3 point shooting.
The Jazz are legit. Very balanced and deep, multiple guys that can get a bucket, which is hard to guard. They’re balanced in a way that reminds me of the 2014-2015 Hawks team
Man what can you say? Malik Beasley was peak Klay Thompson. Their rookie was Rudy Gobert 2.0. Lauri was Larry Bird. THT was what Lakers fans thought he would be.
Y’all are all insane. We just beat the best team in the league, and lost by 6 to the 2nd best team in the league all while our best player is in a shooting slump. Y’all need to watch some Minnesota basketball and exorcise your demons.
Tough loss.
24 - 11 FT discrepancy.
Jazz shot 44% from 3 with 17 3s made. We shot 28% from 3 with 8 shots made.
A 27 point differential off of threes alone, a losing recipe in the modern NBA.
Nate should've put Clint in sooner in the 4th.
We clawed back in the 3rd and made it competitive, but you can't overcome a cold shooting night and horrible refs.
We beat the best team in the league 2 nights ago and we gave the 2nd best team in the league a good fight.
On to the next.
That white boy can shoot (although this ain't new since lauri torched us in the play-in)
we really need to win these games against these top teams
Jazz remind me of that knicks movie with whoopie goldberg.
we don't make a lot of threes, don't take a lot of free throws, dont get to the basket and take a crazy amount of mid range shots- we need Trae to shake the rust off for this brutal stretch of games coming up
Aye btw if Lauri ever becomes available we might need to check that out lol…
That train has passed if the jazz do have a fire sale he’ll be untouchable
Hawks shot 23/43 or 53.5% on 2PA in the restricted area and shot 7/20 or 35% on other 2PA in the paint. The league averages for both of those is 64.9% and 41.3% respectively. Just comically bad shooting inside the paint from this team tonight.
I think Trae is going to get it together eventually but damn did they think it was a good idea to give Lauri open threes. There were multiple times when our weak zone backed off of him who’s shooting lights out from three this season
#1 team in the west we’re fine
Huge difference of ball movement between the two team’s beautiful from Utah and individual from Atlanta in the fourth that’s what lost the game
Unlucky on a lot of shots early in the game. Jazz are surprisingly good. Markannen looks way better in Utah than he was in Chicago.
What fun
Utahs playing great bc everyone is super confused and surprised by them but I promise you this team will fade away or at best be another version of the 15-16 Hawks team
Jazz are no joke not a bad loss but we really need to work on our perimeter D
Nah the Jazz is legit we good.
That Utah offense is too good.
Not a bad loss. Trae shot like ****. Utah is shockingly good
Jazz are too damn good. What the **** is going on lol. Trae needs to get it going. I think tomorrow he'll go off
played a good game against the best team in the nba
Quotes from around the league
What is going on in Utah!?!?!
The Wizards were 10-3 last year with a mediocre net rating and unsustainably good in the clutch last year. I highly doubt Utah is legitimately the best team in the West but I think they're probably more legitimately good than the Wizards were last year and I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.
I like how just a few days ago the guys on The Ringer NBA show we’re talking about how long do you wait before you blow it up…. My brother in Christ they have the best record in the West.
His impact on the game did not make him look like a rookie at all lmao. Already got a replacement for Rudy
Kessler will probably never reach quite reach gobert defensively but he is already better offensively. Kessler is a basketball player that happens to be 7 feet tall... Gobert is a basketball player because he is 7feet tall.
Dude is over 70% TS for the season. Yes, Minnesota, it WAS 5FRPs, not 4
That is probably the most FGA I've seen from a player without a single free throw attempt(28)
I absolutely wouldn't expect Trae Young of all players to have that statline either
No, it was just some of the coldest shooting I've seen from Trae. Wide open floaters rimming out, routine layups somehow not falling.
Will Hardy’s 11 years under Pop really showing
This jazz team is legit. I thought that it was early season fluke, and it still could be, but damn these jazz are good
Is Walker Kessler the GOAT
All-Starkkanen Markkanen
Lauri is going to legit be an all star this year. Its not even a joke anymore. dude is HIM
Jazz are Rock Stars right now...
What is happening, what timeline are we in?
The Jazz continue to have all the teamwork, effort, and resilience that last year's team didn't have enough of.
Utah Jazz has escaped the matrix this is not normal
Jazz straight up lied to everybody smh
Lauri Markkanen, Mike Conley, Clarkson Playing good basketball. Such fun to watch
Ainge really raising the value of his assets
THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
Ainge traded Gobert for Gobert and 7 picks, Kessler is stout defensively.
I for one welcome our new jazz overlords
This is no longer funny. What is going on in Utah?
Damn I figured Lauri was flirting with being a star but shiiitt this dude is trying to be a superstar. What the actual **** dude.
Jazz are looking scary as ****.
How is Vanderbilt playing on this Jazz team? Haven’t been able to watch this year and he was one of my favorite players last year.
THESE ASSHOLES JUST KEEP WINNING!
the goddamn Jazz, man
I have never seen a team that sucked this bad at tanking.
The Jazz are just too young and too damn deep. It's not fair. You shouldn't be able to have like 6 guys on your roster that'll get like 20 points once a week.
Hardy going for COTY
The Jazz being the 1st team to 10 wins. Just as we all expected.
It’s one thing for the Wizards to start a season as an early 3-seed before falling to 10. Utah on the other hand is supposed to be the worst team in the league. What is going on
Idc if they lose all of their games for the rest of the season. Give the Jazz the COTY and EOTY awards
I don’t understand this conference lol
Ok Lauri just shoot the lights out why don't ya!
This is my favourite unexpected storyline of the year
The jazz just beat the team that defeated the bucks for the first time. I'll take it.
Lauri markannen with a 32 pt, 8 reb, 0 assist game. Somewhere melo is smiling
Look at Utah running the West!
That’s Lord Lauri, his name should be spoken only in reverence
Lol this can't be happening
****ing Jazz……. May not have one superior talent but damn everybody from 1-10 is solid top to bottom
getting nervous as ****, got a big bet with a jazz buddy of mine. There is no way this **** keeps up....right?....right?
I kinda don’t want to see the Jazz lose for the rest of the season
If this Jazz team wins the title are they gonna be called the “Jazz” like we call the showtime Lakers
Been loosely following since the start of the season and just saw the Jazz's record... Weren't they supposed to be tanking this season ?
Ainge has something nobody has, a team winning and a lot of picks. Value of all their players is increasing a lot, I think if he plays well his cards he can make a very strong contender when any all star is available.
Markkanen was the only one I was sad that we gave up. Wish we could’ve tricked y’all into taking Okoro over him lmao.
Lauri is problematic, they have so many ppl that can shoot/attack closeouts effectively. Very difficult to contain if your rotations aren’t perfect
I wasn't even excited for him until I watched him play FIBA. Dude was the best player there and I had a feeling it would translate.
