Pre Game
who the funk gave us this early season schedule?
Warriors are fixed and likely gonna be a top 5 West team: Once
Jazz are probably the best team in the NBA: Twice
Suns Western Conference Champs, on the road: Once
Mavs on the road, early matinee game, 5th seed in the west last year: Once
Blazers on the road, 6th seed last year: Once
We've had to have had the hardest SOS to start the year. It'll be mightily impressive to get to 4-3, especially with our best player struggling.
The only way they win is if Fox regains All Star form. And what better opponent to do it against than Conley, who he routinely has abused. I've been waiting for 30+ points off of 20 shots, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, 1 block and otherwise stellar defensive game from Fox. When will we see it? This game? 5 games from now? 10 games? This season? Ever? As Fox goes, so goes this game and so goes the season.
Dear God, i had no idea we were @ Utah today. Wtf? This schedule is AWFUL! The Lakers wouldn’t have won a single game if they had our opening schedule. I guess the league is well aware of this. I’d love for the Kings to take on the Thunder and Rockets back to back. Must be a nice extra preseason for that old brittle team down in LA, although OKC handed them their butts recently.
Kind of a big game here. End of a road trip? Yes, but it wasn't at all a brutal one. Walton needs to treat this game as a bit of a desperation one and cut the garbage and come out with a real gameplan. This could be a huge win early in a season with where this team is at.
I definitely don't think we win this game. We never beat Utah especially on the road. I'm hoping we get blown out so our guys are rested enough to **** up the Pelicans tomorrow
time to get pissed off at Gobert being a bitch again
1st Half
Well fox 0-8 with 0pts. Wonder if he's hurt, not finishing well around the rim.
And it goes underappreciated how so much of the wasted movement in Waltons offense gets placed squarely on his shoulders. So much pointless running around screens haha.
Neither of these teams wants to make an outside shot.
Gobert having his way put Len in
It's amazing how deterring Gobert's presence in the paint is.
Lmao Mitchell just got destroyed by Mitchell
Donovan with the sauce
I need to see Hali shooting with the frequency and confidence of Mitchell
What type of Kings magic is it when fox is our worst offensive weapon ? Just drive the lane !
Man is Luke hitting the ****ing pipe.
What happened to Luke challenge god? No way we get this one
That's definitely gonna bite us in the *** later
After review of the play, **** Sacramento"
For a small market team, the Jazz are really unlikeable, especially Gobert
walton: let’s use the guy we pay 30M+ in the dumbest way possible
the jazz’s court is blinding me
Both teams seem to be sleepwalking right now. The problem is the Jazz are much better than us at it.
Conley faked Harkless out of his jockstrap; good job for the Kings, that he missed it.
So basically it's "don't use the challenge at all" or "waste it in the first on a call that won't be overturned". OK.
Feels like Holly Rowe is too good to be doing sideline reports for normal Utah-Sac games but I don't make these decisions.
Thurl Bailey and Holly Rowe are roasting Luke Walton for wasting his challenge.
I get that he wanted the points but it's the first quarter and it was clearly a foul AND the game's close enough that he doesn't have to be in desperation mode quite yet.
BUDDY FROM BRYCE CANYON!
Davion out here looking like the max contract player right now
Jazz running the offense through Gobert like they accidentally got Luke's playbook
Luke couldn't find time for Whiteside, but the Jazz can. Hmmm.
Dude got such a bad wrap from Sacramento fans for some reason. Flawed player yes. Useless player, not by a long shot.
2nd Half
Gobert and Whiteside combined for 25 and 29 (!) the first time around.
W/13 and 18 at the half, they're actually ahead of that pace now.
Absolutely killer.
Can't even be upset about this game. We kept it close, then the refs decided that wasn't allowed
Walton is the dumbest coach when it comes to coach's challenge. Dude absolutely horrid decision making when it comes to this.
Conley is eating Fox alive. I don't get it man
the jazz had no business winning that challenge. Really changed the entire game
The game was already over once Conley and Donovan took over in the 4th. No way the Kings would have overcame that.
The Jazz are a good team but it has to be a scary prospect relying on Jordan Clarkson like they do.
Whiteside couldn’t catch a pass intended for him last year but he catches that?
Clarkson determined to shoot himself out of the slump…..getting shots up faster than TD
Kings will never get calls in Utah….never have
Defensive rebounding is brutal the last 5-10 min
Being KILLED by offensive boards.
Did Fox hit a Gypsy with his car?
Rudy shocked he's not allowed to just grab the ball from atop other guys
Lol Whiteside with the push shot
Might be able to steal this game playing random
Street ball wow
Buddy with the three from Arches.
15 and 24 for their centers.
8 and 9 for ours.
Conley > Fox right now
53 for their starting backcourt; 21 for ours.
donavan and mike conley both have over 30 pts. hard to win games when you’re getting blown up like that
jordan clarkson is 0/11 from the 3 holy **** lmao
Conley just killing us tonight SMH
Where do I get Rudy Gay's pants?
Is it possible that the covid affected Fox so he's impaired physically? Even his dribbling is off. He keeps mishandling the ball.
Snyder burning his challenge here. Still a lot of time left.
They are going to challenge this fml
Oh, coach’s challenges can be successful?
Another 3 minute collapse. At least we’re the best at something?
Mitchell needed 30 shots to get his 34.
Conley got to 30 w/18 shots. He absolutely destroyed the Kings tonight.
This was the 6th out of 7th game where the Kings were able to have the lead in the 4th quarter. We need Fox back for closing games
Alright why tf was Donovan Mitchell WIDE OPEN lmao
4 white jerseys and Donovan gets the ball
Of course Gobert now misses the free throw.
Oh and screw the refs, I like how it's roll of my tongue... Screw-the-refs.
Luke is running old early 2000s schemes in a 2020s world.
These refs are giving everything conceivable to the Jazz here down the stretch. Trash
That far away from three point line, why fight over the screen? Gobert’s screen are too tough for most people to fight over them.
Fox is in his head. Conley is blowing by him on every drive and just walking straight into open 3s. Man, this is concerning.
Went from being a top 5 PG to being eviscerated by 34 year old Mike Conley. Sad times
DAMN DAVION FREE CHIKFILA
Dude what is with the no calls on Goberts moving screens
So… a big concern with Fox was when he was being guarded by Eric Paschal he could not shake him. ERIC PASCHAL.
how many times we gonna fly by 3 point shooters?
Lmao every other team’s challenge is automatically successful
fox getting checked by paschall has to be the most embarrassing thing ive ever seen
Fox doesn't go under or over screens, he just drifts into the abyss.
Man why wait so long to foul if you're still gonna foul Mitchell?
Davion is going to set a record for most jumpballs lost
imagine being on the jazz and having the gall to complain right now
STFU Bojan. You guys just got like 10 calls in a row all go for you
Quinn showing luke how to use a challenge correctly
This is like the dumbest 10 minutes of basketball I've ever seen
Talk about getting ****ed with no lube
Inexcusable to let him get his own rebound off a three point shot and then walk down the lane untouched. Dafuq was that.
We've been getting outsized on the boards but that was straight up inexcusable. There's 4 Kings there and Mitchell sprints from the 3 point line to put back his own attempt. Pathetic.
How does Quin Snyder look like a New Yorker and a redneck at the same time?
I get more of a meth vibe from him. Might even smoke some meth then take a hot shot of heroin to cool down after
Holy cow, we gave up 14 offensive rebound.
god Conley is having a game
**** Rudy gobert
Conley my grandpas age and he is embarrassing the kings.
Got his ankles broken by Conley, proceeded to do tummy time on the floor for the next minute
lol imagine having a max player who can hit open shots
Ja Morant is who De'Aaron Fox thinks he is.
Len is awesome, love his hustle and boxing out our own players and love how he wears #25 way to rock that number
Imagine being me and taking fox in the second round of my fantasy draft
Look how quickly and easily Donovan Mitchell penetrates our defense and makes a play.
worst part is, there's almost no way to get out of fox's contract if he keeps playing this terrible. avg of 32 mil over the next five seasons. he cant even get around a screen without losing ****ing half the court of space between his man and him
Watching the Kings is kind of like watching Squid Game where the Kings are the players and the 29 other teams are the pink guys. being a kings fan is like being the players who didn’t get their portion of food that one episode
Say what you want about our squad but at least our dance team can, well... dance. These jokers out here looking like a Jr. High School drill team.
Bogdanovic’s bald spot kinda looks like a dick & balls
Balldick Balldickovic
Lose by 5, missed 5 FTs in the 4th. Love to see it
This Jazz team is so unlikeable Jesus Christ. They'd be nothing without Gobert
We need a big man who’s a threat. Gobert is just too effective.
another point that doesnt get brought up about this team is we have zero ****ing size on this roster. wouldnt surprise me if we had both the shortest average starting five and entire roster in the league. we gotta be one of the worst defensive rebounding teams of all time
Another awful game from fox when we’re gonna lose by 5 or less. All we need him to do is just not be bad..lol
Walton got completely out coached tonight
Jazz guards on fire. Fox playing like doodoo. Luke Walton big brain coaching as per usual.
Post Game
Tyrese doesn't look like a shell of himself. Fox does. Conley, yes Conley, outplayed Fox like nobody's business tonight. When has that EVER happened??? Conley looked like he was the young stud and Fox looked over-the-hill. If this was really JUST a shooting slump I wouldn't be concerned. It's not just a shooting slump. It's an everything-slump.
Mitchell was using craft to shake Davion. Pivots, hesi’s, spins, physicality. Fox really needs that in his game. He’s one speed and straight line. The added muscle doesn’t help if he’s still trying to out quick everyone.
His shooting is a byproduct of that. He’s unbalanced, not really planting before shooting.
And I have to mention the coaching at the end when Kings were down by 3pt or 5pts? Why did you want Fox to drive and dish to Barnes and go after Gobert? He's the best defender in the league, why would you want to go at him? Geez, it's just not smart coaching imo. And did you notice that with Haliburton attacking, he seems to make things far more easier to score. I just feel the lack of intelligent in this team prevent team from winning and that start with coaching. You don't stop going to the one that make things work. You don't continue to go to the one that are struggling. You don't keep silent when players are taking bad shots. Walton is just too casual to implement any discipline on this team.
Outrebounded by 21.
They looked tired to me. Some of those O-rebounds looked like no Kings player wanted to track 'em down.
We need new energy out there. Need to lengthen this rotation.
Tonight’s game turned on a bogus overturn of a Gobert foul. I’m beyond sick of replay subjectively overturning what was already a subjective call. No chance that call gets overturned if it was the KINGS challenging it.
Once again the referees finding a way to intervene in outcomes. It’s ridiculous that plays like that can even be challenged
Fox taps a guy, he gets called.
Fox gets mugged, no call.
You have to beat refs and the other team every game.
Kings have had the hardest schedule in the nba so far and are 3-4… they have improved so much it’s insane. A easy stretch is coming up and we get to see the kings real potential.
My issues giving up way too many offensive rebounds, heartless is barely giving us anything, the small ball isn’t working, not scoring enough in the paint we have to start playing bagley & Metu man come on Luke
4-15 from our “franchise player” trade him please for the love of god
Fox played gem of a game For JAZZ
Walton is garbage but man fox looks bad so far
I didn't hate the effort. Jazz are just a better team. Those five missed free throws in the Fourth killed us. Fox though man...this is not good at all. We probably have two more wins if he is even playing average.
Spida got his but I love that Davion pick more with each passing minute
Shout out refs for making this game borderline unwatchable
We are so bad at the end of games if Fox isn’t playing well. It’s awful, and hard to watch, and I hate it
I would happily take Ben Simmons as soon as Morey capitulates and decides to sell for pennies on the dollar. I think Ben Simmons has a sickness that can’t be fixed, which is a toxic personality. Those guys rarely solve problems they just create more.
and rudy w 16+ rebounds
what a beast
Sorry but the refs were garbage. Walton is garbage, Fox didn’t play well, but the kings were in it until the refs ****ed up three straight calls with three minutes left and put the game out of reach.
Davion gets better and better. Buddy needed to play more of the 4th.
Congrats to the refs on another fantastic W
Damn the King's got outrebounded 59 to 38.
That game was everything from **** to ****ing ****.
Rough game. The Jazz are top class of Western Conference. Not a bad loss.
Tough loss as usual, but it's a good thing that we can keep it close against the best team in the league. We have a lot of potential.
Back to back’s involving away games in utah are how the nba ensures certain teams lose. Watch the officiating tonight as well. Note how many ticky tack calls the kings get. Stuff like foot on the line, quick calls that aren’t replayed or discussed. The jazz will shoot a lot more free throws tonight as well.
