Utah on a 7 game winning streak, 15-9 at home, and fighting for the playoffs. It doesn't look like a good match-up for us coming off overtime game in Portland, but I think this game is just too important for us not to show up. Utah could also overlook us since they play Portland on Sunday, which will have much bigger impact on their playoff chances. Hornets win 108-100.
In Utah on a b2b off an OT game. Just kill me now
Ingles proving that smarts is more important than athleticism when it comes to creating space for a shot. Easily got away from MKG
If you don't love inept inbounds play design then you don't love Hornets basketball
MKG doing a good job on Mitchell but Rubio hitting jumpers and crap.
This game is just going to make me mad that we don’t have Mitchell. He had the Charlotte connection and loved MJ too? Ugh. Plus we still have to watch Frank. Torture. Also, I’m kind of done with MKG. I keep expecting him to fall over based on how he looks running around out there all uncoordinated.
Why on God’s green Earth would MCW shoot a 3 on a fastbreak?
I didnt think this game would be a shootout between Frank and Jerebko.
Joe Ingles is pretty cool.
Mitchell just made MKG look silly and smiled as he hit the 3.
If Rubio finishes the 1st half 5/6 behind the 3 pt line, i might jump through the window.
Mitchell is an animal
Jerebko abusing Frank.
i like neto
Jazz coach looks like he striaght out of a 30's gangster film
Ingles would have been so good next to Kemba
· Yep, imagine if half his touches were Dwight passing him the ball with 5 seconds left on the shot clock against a set defense after everyone was standing around watching Dwight waste the possession fighting for post position.
· Or if he didn’t have endless amounts of screens to run around with wide open lanes to the rim. Or wide open threes to take from all of the ball movement.
· true, but he's smarter than Batum, takes less risks.
Everything he throws up looks like it’s going in and he’s doing it so slow and methodically. Which I guess is easy when there’s nobody to really contest you or come up and make your shots difficult.
Jazz offence is something to what we should be trying to do.
Watching this team is like racing a car that runs out of gears. We have 4 gears and everyone else has 5-7.
This game makes me feel like Ingles, Neto, Jerbeko and Rubio are max contract players.
Mitchell is super aggressive for his own shot, the others are happy sharing the ball and looking for the best shot.
Move it around to create space, so they don't need hero ball
· nah.... no one can create their own shot outside of mitchell and they all know it. makes life easy for everyone
Ol ex dukie Snyder loves his cocaine. Literally.
Just how Clifford drew it up. Dwight taking long 2s when he can’t even make a free throw. Followed by allowing two offensive rebounds and lazy PnR defense.
YAY Dwight fouled out!
Mitchell is teaching us a lesson tonight. Man I hope Monk can get his chance and be what he was supppsed to be.
Donovan Mitchell is so good
Hornets can’t shoot and play no defense. Not a good combo.
"Utah is playing really, really well. Having Rudy [Gobert] back has really helped those guys. This is a very tough place to play... We put up a good fight, but we just weren't good enough." - Marvin Williams
Jerebko with a nasty block on Cody and eurostep around Frank for a layup on the other end. Their big white dude outplayed both of ours.
I just can't get into this. We're down at the half to the ****ing Jazz. Hope we can lose it for a slightly better shot at a good draft pick. **** this team.
· The Jazz are on a 7 game win streak and have been absolutely phenomenal this year so I don;t know why you said it like "were down to the ****ing jazz"
· Because they have a bad record, no stars, and just traded one of their players yesterday, so their chemistry is going to be off. What's wrong with wanting the Hornets be to be good? The Jazz are not good. I want us to be ahead of them in the scoring column ideally.
yeah let's have Dwight taking 18 footers
Utah’s coach is from Dick Tracey.
If Batum helps off Joe Ingles one more ****ing time.... and he just did. **** this team.
Ingles reminds me a bit of Boris Diaw.
Kemba Walker took 0 free throws this game
Dwight has stopped caring
Their ball movement is light years ahead of ours. Just feels like our offense is Kemba iso, Batum iso, or Dwight iso
Having to play the second night of a back to back in high elevation is hard; having to do it twice in one week is cruel. @NBAAllStar break can't get here soon enough for Charlotte. Still time to turn it around and make the playoffs.
why can’t we have nice things
Joe Ingles career game, of course.
Ingles is a white Batum playing on a good contract ...
· Except shoots an insane percentage from 3 and doesn't turn the ball over. Unlike Batum.
· Also doesn't shoot contested fadeaways like he's kobe
Coach Clifford spoke after Friday night's loss in Utah about the challenges of defending the Jazz offense and the difference-making ability of center Rudy Gobert
Malik Monk made a three-point basket in this NBA basketball game. That was my favorite part of the 48 minutes of regulation play. A single morsel of joy on a giant dookie sandwich.
MCW and Dwight Howard are unplayable. Monk needs minutes. **** this team. Cody should be starting. That is all.
GG Dwight. 5 points, 2-7 FG, 9 rebounds, 6 fouls
Just score one more point so I can Papa Johns the pain away please.
With 6 minutes remaining, Utah called timeout because we made a run to cut it to 7, and you just knew we were losing this game with Dwight subbed back in. We got outscored by 4 in the next 2 minutes, with Dwight committing 2 additional fouls to foul out.
Howard has been so bad lately. He puts in such little effort on everything he does except post ups, which he's just terrible at. His screens are actually atrocious.
The greatest thing happened.. I started getting sick with a sinus thing, I was so drained, I fell asleep as the game started, woke up, and it was over... so painless
I just realized something. We have 5 lottery picks coming off the bench (MCW, Lamb, Monk, Zeller, Kaminsky) yet we seem to have one of the least productive benches in the league. We have 9 lottery picks in total on the roster (4 starters, 5 bench players) yet we are a bad team, capped out, with little hope for the future. That is some awful, awful front office work.
Utah's team depresses me, I've sorta liked them for years but their passing today just made the game easy for them.
Snyder has always had a great basketball mind when hes not snorting powder. We should have hired him.
· he really did look strung out on the sideline
· His hair is amazing. Should have hired him for that alone
The Hornets strongly considered selecting Louisville’s Mitchell with the 11th overall pick before taking Kentucky’s Malik Monk. Mitchell said after the Jan. 12 game in Charlotte he thought the Hornets were taking him. Instead, Mitchell went 13th to the Denver Nuggets, and his draft rights were traded to the Jazz. Now he’s a Rookie of the Year candidate.
The Jazz has always been experimental with uniform colors. This season they have gone with multiple shades of red, contrasting with mustard. It sounds odd, but it looks good.
