Feel like a part of my love for the Wolves is gone, really wanted Ricky to be in the playoffs as a Wolf. I hope we can get Lowry now, or this is gonna suck even more

was hoping for Hood

Sigh. Rubio was my second fav Wolf of all time.

This actually makes me sad. Ricky is a good player but also such a fun player to watch.

Heartbroken.*

I wanna cry simply. I love Minny and Ricky. This is too sad.

Man are u serious? This is giving Rubio away, they changed him for nothing and in his prime, he was outplaying almost every PG last year Post All Star. The team had chemistry...
I guess Thibs is risking it all to next year.
I don't like this trade, Ricky do not deserve this

Really hope Hayward resigns with the Jazz. It would be fun to watch Rubio with Hood and Hayward on the wings.

I'm retiring this account. It was nice knowing y'all.

#not my Timberwolves. Ricky will tear it up in Utah. Those fans know how to appreciate passion, passing, and leadership. I'm looking forward to side-by-side footage of Stockton and Rubio doing the same exact things 25 years apart.

A non lottery first round pick is peanuts. Horrible trade. Got an inferior PG that we will have to pay more money.

Man I'll miss Ricky, hope us and Utah can make playoffs now so he finds the success he's due

I'm a big Rubio fan....and I was also a huge LaVine fan as well. Let's see how things play out. We traded Rubio for space so we could sign a PG who will hopefully help with spacing. I don't think Teague will be a bargain though....I expect him to be at least a $20 million a year player. Hopefully I'm wrong and he will be less than Rubio. If that's the case, that we get a first round pick, more cap space and swap Rubio for Teague I'll be very happy with the trade. I'm saying that as someone who loves watching Ricky Rubio play.

Hate to see Ricky go as I really liked him. I think last year he started to show smore of what we expected him to be after having the life sucked out of him post injury during the Adelman Era.

The trade as it is stinks. What we do as the next move is key so I'll reserve judgement as this is first step to something hopefully bigger. I hope it's Lowry.

Ricky should be fun on the Jazz.

Seems like a rather low return on Rubio, sounds like Thibs didn't really care for him. With Butler being so ball-dominant, perhaps he will be playing PG for you this year.

Ugh, it just now hit me that we will have to watch him against the Wolves so much more with Utah.

Sad. Very sad.

No problem....I'll miss Ricky....class act and a fun basketball player to watch. His only flaw was he wasn't a good shooter. I wish him the best with the Jazz.

Rubio is teaming up with iso-Joe now.....interesting.

Marc Stein says we trade Ricky for a 2018 1st round pick and cap space.*Unbelievable.

If we swap Rubio for Teague then I will say this off season is a bust, even with adding Butler.I can deal with Rubio to get Lowry. I have always said I am OK trading Rubio if we get an upgrade, and Lowry is that. I just didn't think we would actually get a guy like him (until now). But Teague is not an upgrade by any means.

F you Thibs! If this ends up being Teague for Rubio....this is just an awful, awful deal.

I hope that Utah keeps Hayward now. It would make them a strong team potentially now and in the future, but I like Ricky and want to see him play with good players.

I've hoped Utah kept Hayward anyway because I dont want to see a star bolt from a smaller market. But now...Utah will be my 2nd favorite team.*

One thing I've said before: You look at who ended up with Rubio. A team that has traditionally done VERY smart things. Not a coincidence.*

Just so sad about this. Rubio was my favorite player. This move doesnt happen without Butler pushing for it. So this is a huge black mark on Butler IMHO. Especially because I actually think that we're going to get Lowry as he's "buds" with Butler. We will rue the day in 2 years that we made this deal if we dont get 2 really good players out of it.

Run by the Dennis Lindsey, the guy we should have signed on to be POBO in 2009 but Glen scared him off and Lindsey wisely pulled his name out of the running. Leaving us with Kahn...*

I love this Rubio move for Utah, but I will not root for them since they are in our division.

I'm sure Gobert will love playing with Rubio. Probably will lead the league in dunks.

I think Utah is a great fit for Ricky in a lot of ways and I'll still cheer for him. The roster just fits him and he could help make Hood a star. Great move by them. I think it's a necessary move by us considering the roster and how it's expected to be used. The 1st round pick helps as it will replace the one we lost anyway and is an upgrade.

I am happy Rubio lands on a solid team where he can hopefully keep growing as a player

Rubio got me through some dark times in wolves history There was many years he was literally the only reason to tune into a game. I’m sad he won’t get to be part of the Wolves impending conquest of the league, but at least he is going to be on a good team. Not like he got dumped to the kings or something.

Yeah, Utah will be good.

F*** you Thibs, F*** you Layden. and f*** this team

Welp, this was probably the worst birthday present I've ever gotten

The only players in NBA history to average 8 assists PG and 2 steals PG for a career: John Stockton, Chris Paul & Ricky Rubio

Godspeed, Ricky.Rubio
You were loved here
And you will be missed

F***ing management makes a great deal to get Butler, then steps on their dick with this move. I hope Rubio goes for 47 points against the Wolves and drains a ‘3’ with one second on the clock in a late season game to keep the T’Wolves out of the playoffs.

I put my phone down for 2 minutes to go get a glass of water and this f***ing happens.

If Westbrook goes down then you'd be looking at a lottery pick. It's not too crazy to imagine the Thunder missing the playoffs this year, and if they do they'd probably miss it the two following seasons. Decent chance Rubio just turned into a second rounder (or two, not sure if Utah or MIN would get that 2nd 2nd rounder).
Bottom of Form

Came here to watch the world burn

I am only ok with this if we get Hill or Lowry. Pretty much the worst thing we could do is give Rubio a giant chip on his shoulder.

This is so f***ing lame. I get that many weren't very high on Rubio, but a straight up trade for a mid level 1st round? That is some garbage. He's better than that and we're gonna end up paying for it, especially if we end up with Teague.

Neto Rubio Exum PG rotation. Only two more spots open on the first team all cutie pies.

UGHHHHH I HATE THIBS AND LIFE

We gave up Rubio for only a first rounder that probably won't even be a lottery pick?! Ugh, I'm not happy with that. Rodney Hood, Joe Ingles (S&T), there were definitely legitimate assets to squeeze Utah for in exchange for a player who makes a very positive contribution toward wins.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Just a pick is some ********. I don't want him gone. I love Rubio. I need him here in MN.

I was really hoping we'd atleast get exum. This trade better involve a god damn back up plan.

We better get Lowry or we will regret this. Can't wait to see him dropping dimes for Gobert to get easy buckets

The Jazz get one of the best passers in the whole league. Both Utah and Ricky got lucky, imo, because they will now be Rubio, Favors and Gobert, plus maybe Ingles (who played with Rubio in Spain)... too much feelings, xD. Plus, wasn't Utah Pistol Maverich's team? **** this :'( That was our Ricky.

And don't get me started with the injuries. Rubio― Ricky had pretty bad luck with the injuries. That's the main reason why he wasn't able to develop as we all wanted. Those years were frustrating. He simply wasn't healthy for training a whole freaking year, and then our garbage team never ****ing had a semi competent shooting coach until last year's summer. And what happened when Ricky had bloody health and our ****ty team finally hired semi competent people (except for Kander the doctor who's possibly the person I respect the most from this era)? That Ricky finally improved! I know his shooting stride didn't maintain. The reason is because they don't have time during the season to train personal things (players dixit). Buuuuuut, the progress was there and the hope that he could improve more and for longer this offseason was there. We'll see in Utah. I hope and wish he becomes the GOATEST, I have always wanted, but well. Thing is we will look for a better shooting pg. I hope we get the right one ;-)

I don't even know man, I freaking HATE Utah and the Jazz. I can't even.. My only hope is that the Jazz deal him to LA or some insane ****. Yeah, definitely a personal thing. Utah blows goats.

I would have liked to give him a chance with this upgraded roster. He went through a lot of **** here, regardless of his flaws. Utah is lucky to have him.

I bet Ricky's actually happy tbh. Now he gets a chance on a team that actually wanted him and better yet they're a playoff team as well. He's gonna do so well next year

Ugh this move makes me so upset. Ricky is hands down a top 3 playmaker in the NBA, idgaf what you say fight me. Pretty Ricky was a masterpiece to watch on the court. F***. Gonna watch him when Jazz come into town

Ricky is gonna ball out on an actual playoff team next season. I guess I'm watching jazz games

this one hurts man. this one hurts.

That's my point guard :'( John Stockton 2.0 heading to Utah

I get a Kevin Love jersey, less than a year later he's traded. I get a Ricky Rubio jersey, less than a year later he's traded. God. F***ing. dammit. Woe is me

I love this thread.

Sent from my SM-G920V using JazzFanz mobile app

I do too. The post game threads from other forums were my highlight from this past season. Glad to see that we won't have to wait until next year to have something similar. Hopefully, we get one from Boston/Miami after Hayward re-signs with the Jazz. That will be effing legendary.

Argh. I'm getting excited about Rubio. So ****ing impressionable.

Yep same reason I haven't bought a jersey in 10 years, expensive asf and 2 years later you can't wear it anymore.
I have a gobert, burks, and favors. So far so good.
I also bought a Humphries and a Millsap but that were both the cheap kind lol.

It's kind of funny, and unusual that both fan bases were pissed off about it at first.

When Utah traded for Jefferson, both fan bases were happy. Minny was happy to get rid of him, which always makes me nervous about a trade I have hope in. It's awesome when you trade for a guy and their fan base is pissed off. Always a good sign, unless it's a rook/soph who's value is based on potential.

It's like Tony Romo's mother had an affair with Pistol Pete and out came Rubio... favorite cousin of Ginobili

Maybe it's my fandom, but I'm liking this trade more and more. Maybe we will play as a quicker pace and take a lot of pressure of Hood and Hayward (assuming he stays) this would allow Hayward to focus more on just being a scorer, could be the next step in his evolution as a player.

"Rubio is Stockton 2.0" is cringeworthy

In a lot of ways Stockton is a reasonable comparison, with Rubio's greatest strengths being passing and defense. However, the comparison just goes to show how complete a player Stockton was. If Rubio had Stock's shooting, he'd probably be a top PG in the NBA right now.

Signs point to him developing a shot. He killed us this year... They mentioned their shooting coach as well. I bet he is upset and takes it as a challenge and quin teaches him to shoot. Then he looks like JUAN STOCKTON. This thread reminded me of when other teams lost to us. The nature was that they lost and we won. Yet some of y'all really want Hill @$80 million plus.

Now that the dust has settled I only have one real concern with him. There is A LOT to like, and be positive about but there is one MAJOR MAJOR problem we can't ignore. His skill set, and strengths don't match up very well with most of our roster. It's the Donald Trump in the room, it stinks, and we must address it.

The problem is his consistent ability to hit shots, and finish at the rim. Teams sag off him, and it messes up the pick and roll. I agree there were positive signs with him in the 2nd half of last year.
We'll need for that to continue if we are really going to succeed with Rubio. I'd love to see us run the ball more because, according to Twolves fans, this is one elite skill. Transition offense. He really isn't that great in pick n roll half court.

Can we run a little more with the likes of Rubio, (hopefully Hayward), Mitchell, and Bolomboy? It seems like too much of our roster is slow and or (plays)old, Joe Johnson, Ingles, Favors, etc. We aren't a run and gun up and down the floor type of team.

In a way it seems like if Hayward left this would be a chance to change the feel and play of our team.

Has Ricky ever played in an offense that tried to generate shots for him from where he likes to shoot? Doing that + limiting the amount of times he's holding the ball in the final seconds of the shot clock are easy things for Q to implement and will make a huge difference.
