Pre Game
Randomly....it's hard to express how much I absolutely hate Utahs jerseys...
This'll be an interesting game. The Jazz aren't a bad team and they have big Walker Kessler who can really protect the rim. We tend to struggle against the better rim protecting teams because we're not great at shooting the 3.
Current betting line (not likely to change) is Jazz are favored by five and a half points.
Curious to see how we plan to contain Lauri, dudes been on a heater. 29.8 ppg over the last 10
Don’t be shocked if Lauri goes off. He’s not a fluke.
Mickey Mouse vs. Mormons
The most wholesome rivalry!
The Jazz have the ugliest uniforms I've ever seen.
I’m usually a sucker for understated jersey design. But this is atrocious.
I’ve seen teams of 4-6 year olds in leagues that don’t even keep track of who won the game with better jerseys than the Jazz have tonight…
Utah hi-lighters
1st Half
Rudy Gaye is still in the league? Seems like he should be retired or playing overseas.
Kessler pops as a STUD. Limited minutes? but huge winning impact? I'm curious to see how he looks with the eye test.
I wanted Kessler even when I saw him in UNC then when he transfered to AUB... he caught ny eye more often than Jabari lol
I wonder if our players would be afraid to go to the rim with his presence.
Kessler is an impressive rookie
Why did we draft Jonathan Isaac over Lauri Markkanen?
They get wide open shots and put them in, we take contested shots and they don’t go in as much. Our offense looks terrible, nobody moving and the ball Sticking, gonna be a long game
Wait...Rudy Gay still plays basketball?
I just realized that 23 and 24, are obviously 2 different players. Lol
As a UNC fan this Kessler performance is really pissing me off
Kessler guy can really defend the rim. Franz block was a foul though
Kessler is good. Whoa man
Paolo is playing like he wants to take a nap.
Kessler has fouled about 3 times now and they haven't blown the whistle. There already giving him that benefit of the doubt no calls.
Lauri has looked so good this season. Disappointing to see Bol not contest that last 3 he put up.
I don't get why they don't play Kessler more.
ESPN actually posted that Kessler foul as a game highlight and called it a "massive stuff at the rim." The kid editing it literally left in the part where the Magic commentators point out how it's a foul.
Kessler is really good
Kessler is a throw back of a big. Good to see his type are not extinct yet. I really like him.
I hate him because he's not playing for us. EXACTLY the type of center we need next to Franz and Paolo. So much so that I would trade A LOT for him.
Refs are trash but Utah is out working us
Hold on, it's Bol on Kessler and Wendell on Luri? No wonder Kessler is killing us on the boards
2nd Half
Something that doesn’t suck tonight is our 3 point shooting …we are 8-14 …could be a big shooting night since Utah not a great defensive team
Are you trying to tell me Markkanen has not been fouled more than the entire Magic team combined?
Damn, Sexton missed them both and Kessler still gets the rebound.
And of course he hits both.
Why is our go to defensive move is to foul the opposing player? So many fouls.
Paolo defense is very lack luster. He just allows guys to go by him way to easy without much resistance.
There are like 5 plays Kessler got the benefit of a whistle that was clearly another thing.. annoying
If Kessler is being called this way... no wonder he is a top rookie in the league
Kessler with 6 blocks is insane.
Utah is getting away with murder
I get the idea behind the rule and not wanting to see guys roll their ankles, but it basically means you simply can't contest a stepback 3 because there's no way to not end up in the guy's landing space.
We can’t let that scrub Markannen look this good
Damn I guess averaging 24.5/8 on 52% fg and 42% from 3 over the first half of the season is pretty scrubby nowadays. There’s a reason Markkanen is running away with MIP this year.
Having that action be a flagrant foul is just too harsh.
Unreal Kessler gets the rebound
Really? Bamba had one job AND position
Bamba looking like a twig next to Kessler trying to secure that rebound.
Kessler's not a great FT shooter either, so get ready to rebound.
Of course Walker ****ing Kessler ices us at the line
84% FT shooter misses both and the 54% FT shooter makes both.
Man that is tough stuff right there
It's the hope that kills you...
The NBA need to sort this Clarkson **** out. Stepback... to then kick forward against the defender.
Its stupid.
He did it in another game
Man we pay a 7 footer 10 million a year to not rebound a free throw. Inexcusable and embarrassing.
The Jazz are my second team and they usually get awful reffing but whatever the Magic did to deserve the worst reffing of all time this season must be worse than anything else that happened in history.
Post Game
Refs were bad but Jazz were the better team. Better rebounding, better guard play, better bench.
38 ft for Utah magic 16 what BS was this game with these refs and this should be addressed by the HC
Utah cant make shot so just keep sending them to the line and let Orlando get hacked
Kessler is like a modern day Mark Eaton for Utah.
Bol -19 in a game they lost by 4 is yeeesh.
Honestly, It's a darn miracle that this was close with them outshooting us at the line by nearly 20 and outrebounding us by 20.
Props to Kessler though. He got away with some stuff but he’s a terrific rim protector and rebounder.
This is a game the Magic should have won easily. Utah had 9 more turnovers and the Magic out shot them from the 3pt line but we could not stop fouling them in shots, we could not rebound and made so many mental errors, for example Paolo committing a lane violation on missed free throw that gave them another free throw. This is more like a game given away, the defense was good enough to win, attention to detail lacking.
8 foot wingspan on Mo all for ****ing nothing. All these near 7 footers, all for ****ing nothing. Learn to rebound or lose.
40 to 16 Free Throws. That is all I’m going to say
73-45 rebounds
So nice of the league to let three young blind individuals fulfill their lifelong dream of reffing an NBA game. Heartwarming.
Bol Bol and Bamba are both ***. We seriously need a decent defensive and rebounding big off the bench. Refs were garbage too. Not much else to say.
That Clarkson flagrant call made me physically sick
Lauri had 30 points on 4 made shots
Why is it so hard for our Centers to get a rebound after the missed free throw?????
Blame the refs all you want, but we could have won the game if we got a damn rebound.
For being one of the youngest teams in the league we seem to get out worked by damn near every other team we play against
Would love to complain about the refs rn (they screwed us all night), but that just confirmed why mo bamba will never be anything more than a backup center on a ****** team.
Moe Bamba could be the worst center in nba history. Most preschoolers can box him out
My mind is still stuck on the fact that even if Utah missed that last free throw, Bamba got boxed out by Collin ****ing Sexton
And that Kessler rebound is why Bamba belongs buried on the bench.
