Radio Personalities

About 8 years ago when I lived in Texas I used to listen to Beck when he first started syndicating - I thought the right wing had finally reached the bottom of the barrel with this jackass.

The fact that he is as popular as he is truly disturbs me.

I don't listen to the radio anymore - I have a 3 minute commute to my office.

Glenn has been on radio 8 years?

I only heard about him 2 years ago. I've been amused by he and Stu's banter on the radio when I have listened. Their mockery of liberals is especially hilare.

Yes, his show went into small market syndication in 2002; right about the same time I started a job with about a 60 mile commute. I'd listen to an hour or so of his show while driving to work.

I always get somewhat grumpy with Science Friday merely because it replaces Talk of the Nation programming one day a week. Why can't it replace some other show I don't value as highly?

Did you watch the Showtime television adaptation of This American Life (also done by Ira Glass)? It was completely fascinating stuff. Both seasons are on Netflix Watch Instantly. I banged them all out on one long Saturday.

Yeah, I watched the first season but haven't gotten around to the second. It wasn't on instant when I watched it. I like SF enough that I don't mind that it bumps TOTN.

The guy's a moron.

You've clearly never listened to show his show for a prolonged period. You can't base it on his PTI work. He makes fun of his work on that show all the time. ESPN wants a certain thing, generic, cliche-y sports talk, so that's what he gives them, and then mocks it relentlessly on his radio show.

He has an amazing thing going on right now. A Cleveland radio show called him to be a guest (to talk LeBron) and he told them the guy to talk to is his "Heat Insider" 'Mark Hackman.' Mark Hackman is actually Mark hochman his producer. he goes on and just spews out the most retard genreic, cliche filled crap sports talk and the guys in Cleveland eat it up. It's hilarious. He has even made up sayings such as "Even in times of darkness, one size fits all" and the Cleveland guys just go on like nothings wrong.

Oh and another one of Dan's peeves is when people like overpronounce spanish words (being in Miami I'm sure he hears it a lot), so Hochman started talking about the "buzz" the "storm brewing" the "tornado" around Little Havana and pronounced it horribly two different ways like 'Havanya' and 'Havahhna.'

Dude's hilarious, I will admit though if you just occasionally listen you won't really know whats going on because there's so many show inside jokes.

I'm a big Ben Bagley fan. His insight and questions never fail to amaze me.

"So, Deron, you scored 35 points tonight. How did that feel?"
"So, Francisco, you blocked 2 shots tonight, did that make you feel good?"
"So, Jerry, you won the game tonight. How did it feel?"

Journalistic gold!

Guilty as charged. I should've said he's a moron on PTI. Though that hack from the LA Times takes the cake there. Dude truly is a moron.

Well if you have free time between 3 and 7 pm on week days you can listen at 790theticket.com. I like their whole lineup through out the day.

They also play clips from previous shows during commercial breaks for the internet listeners so maybe that'll help catch you up and give you a sense of the type of comedy.

Oh, Andrei Kirlenko will be on Lebatard at 5:15 ET.(5 mins.)

LeBatard touts AK47 as the best nickname in sports and is fascinated by his wife's 1 groupie a year policy. Should be a s good segment....maybe it deserves it's own thread...

We haven't had him here for eight years that I know of. A cousin of mine was an early associate of Rush in his Sacramento days. . . . . and had a falling out, and now says Rush has moved from being an equal critic of both parties to a critic who specializes on one side. I consider that a misuse of that "brain". A lot of us are partisan because it's just too much trouble to be against everybody, but we need critics of both sides, all sides, or whatever "sides" there are, besides the simple rah rah rah loyalists.

I think Beck is in deeper than he knows how to swim, and is probably just being managed to ride the conservative "wave". There are a number of conservatives who consider him to be an inadequate advocate for their position.
