Raja AND Matthews???

I can't believe that nobody has thought of this yet. Why not use the Matt harpring trade exeption to do a sign and trade to get Raja, and then match Matthews with the midlevel?

Yes, it would cost a MASSIVE bundle, but everyone assumes that the signing of Raja means that Matthews is toast, but according to a radio interview with Randy Rigby, the Jazz have not made a final dicision about Matthews.

Now let's not get hopes up, they may just be punishing the blazers for their meddling by taking the full week, which I am FINE with, but there remains that slight possibility because

1: They have not officially signed the papers for Raja yet, and
2: They have not notified the Matthews camp that they are not matching.

Because we need a shot blocking big. Not another 2. Let it go.

The problem is not how we can sign Bell and match Matthews. The problem is they won't match after signing Bell because they are already over the tax line. Unless we can unload AK to a team with cap space and take back less salaries, they are not going to match. It's clearly a business decision, not a basketball one.

One thing to fret on; what if Bell somehow fails to get here for his physical, or unexpectedly fails it? Would we then match Matthews' offer sheet? I understand Bell's physical is Monday, which is when the deadline is for us to match...

#1 Raja hasn't taken a physical, so it's not going to be until he does.
#2 Wes Matthew's agent was told that if Raja passes a physical, they are not going to match.

There is absolutely no chance Matthews is brought back now. What happens if Bell fails his physical? We move on to Brown and or Brewer. This doesn't change the fact that Matthews is getting way overpaid.

During player physicals they always get pitted against an established player already on the team. For some reason I smile when I think of CJ Miles gaming Raja Bell.
