Random thoughts as I'm watching the Jazz Raptors game

As I witnessed one of the worst halves of Jazz basketball against another team in TANK mode, I had some thoughts:

1) I think Corbin is gone after this year. There is clearly no set offense or gameplan. The jazz on offense look about as confused as my U of U intramural team does. If the Miller's can't see the incompetence of Tyrone Corbin, then we will never be able "rebuild" as we want.

2) The only person on the roster that deserves a contract of 10M or more per year is Kanter. Hayward and Favors are disappointing. Both are 3rd year players looking like rookies. Players making more than 10M a year should be able to carry their team somewhat against bottom tier teams in the league.

3) I am worried about attendance this years. I know that Utah loves their jazz, but I could see the games dropping to 5-10 thousand attendance range this season.

4) 2014 NBA draft cannot come soon enough!

I hate to break it to you, but Hayward and Favors are 4th years players. Kanter and Burks are 3rd year.

Now back to your regularly scheduled debacle.

Still to soon to judge the players abilities for me. We are still on a road trip where even last year we were terrible.

With the exception of Hayward, this is the first time any of these guys have ever really played. Number of years in the league borders on irrelevant and misleading.

I thought I would add my unorganized thoughts here.

Well our core 4, plus gobert are doing good in a way. We need to see a little more fight from them, but it's really tough to win a game when you have nobody helping 4 or 5 guys. No spacing, nothing.

Favors: 17 pts, 6/14, 7, 1, 2, 2
Kanter: 14 pts, 5/12, 4, 2, 1, 1
Hayward: 24 pts, 10/18, 7, 4, 0, 4 - Hayward is showing to be a solid option, I think he can be a 2nd option on our team, but it isn't good when he almost lead the team in rebounds.
Burks: 17 pts, 4/10, 3, 4, 0, 0 7/8ft - Burks just needs to be a little smarter with his shot selection, but I still think he can be a good player who gets to the line and can create.

Both Favors and Kanter have a lot of potential to clean up mistakes and get easy points, they just need a better point guard, and better players around them (good 3ish options for the team). Really if we had a better bench and some 3 point shooters we wouldn't have lost 7 in a row. yeah....

Personally I am not to worried with the talent we have I just want use to win a few time to give the guys some confidence in their abilities. I also want to see good team plays, offense, defense soooo a new coach really.

Burks is going to get traded real fast if he keeps this up.

Ya 17 points on 9 shots with 4 assists, 3 rebounds in 28 minutes

He was definately to blame tonight

Those stats are so empty. They're similar to the Nets game in that they mean nothing. This game was over in the 1st quarter. Empty stats against the TANK MODE Raptors! Jazz still lack a 3 point threat and a legitimate 1st option closer who can create his own shot. I do agree with you about the new coach. I'd like to see Corbin get fired after the season though to guarantee ourselves a top lotto pick.

Ya they are empty but its better than the core 4 having crappy stats and jefferson/lucas/tinsley/marvin/harris/clarke having the good stats.

I mean at least the core players are the ones with decent numbers so it feels like if they were surrounded by better players than that ****pile listed above, then we could be pretty good

This^

The c4 are all good players, the only problem is they are young, and have no experience leading and carrying a team. Not one of these players have any experience being the #1 or #2 guy, and we don't have an Allstar type of player on this team or even a decent supporting cast to take pressure of the c4.

I don't blame the OP for overreacting, after all we do look like the worst team of all time... I hope he doesn't think that this team is a finished product.

Don't give him too much credit. He hit his last three shots and scored 11 in the 4th. That means when the game was decided (quarters 1,2,3) he was 1-for-7 and had 6 points.

This. Surprisingly though, Burks was only -4 while on the court... While our other "core 4" players were:

Derrick Favors -26
Enes Kanter -31
Gordon Hayward -19

I don't know if burks has been playing great defense or what but I pay close attention to him while he is on the court and the guy he has been guarding in most every game rarely scores.

Some time he has been guarding guys that just are not that good so that is part of it but he has improved defensively imo

Whoa, whoa, whoa. So it's ok to criticize Burks for getting his production when the game is out of hand but not Hayward?
