My guess all along was Neto's playmaking skills would catapult him being our true PG of the future.

The dime at 2:26 was simply ridiculous. The kid just knows how to play. He's quite reminiscent of Nash/Curry with his hook passes with BOTH HANDS. Incredible at his age.

IMO, when strictly looking at passing/playmaking, maybe the most gifted passer we've seen since AK47 and Stock. (Tinsley and Mark Jackson weren't so bad either I suppose)

*I apologize in advance if this vid has been posted before, I personally haven't seen it in the forums.

And guys this is in the competitive Spanish Liga Endesa, where pace is closer to the NBA than it is in college basketball. I have good vibes about Neto stepping up to the plate. Offensively he would provide nothing less than what we saw from Exum in his rookie year in terms of passing, and his shooting can be worked on.

people talk about his shooting all the time. they talked about exum's shooting too before the season. I hope he can shoot 33% from 3

I remember his first year we got a glimpse in summer league. He did throw some pretty impressive passes. Had me thinking I'd rather have him than Burke at the time. Got crucified for that. (In a mocking whiney voice) "it's just summer league you idiot, blah blah, blahhh poop" Now people will probably be screaming for Neto by the 5th game.

I have a feeling it might be Cotton that does the best though.

Nah mean

I worry with Cotton that his size defensively will be a problem if he becomes a regular part of the rotations. But we might have a trio of poor defensive PG's.

I just think Neto looks slow and a bit cumbersome in his movements. His jab step at the top of the key seemed forced and slow for example. I am hoping he can make a step change and adjust rapidly this season or NBA defenses will eat him alive.

I'm pretty excited about Neto, but he's still going to be a rookie and it's gunna take some time to adjust.

I don't really agree with this, or at least think the video may be misleading on this point. He looked decently quick/agile in past international competitions (including against USA). And DL has said more than once that his speed/quickness is a positive.

What concerned me about the video is that almost all of the assists came after he pounded/held the ball for several seconds. That may be just a function of his team, of course, but I had hoped to see at least a few more assists that were part of good team ball movement and not just him controlling the ball most of the time.

I understand your concern but Raul is not slow. He'll have some problems early on adjusting to the NBA but speed, at least offensively, is not one of them. Maybe the video made you think he's slow but it's just him using hesitation moves and playing under control waiting for the defence to make a mistake and leave a teammate open. Also, the pace and spacing in FIBA basketball is completely different than in the NBA.

On the other hand, i think he'll struggle defensively at first. His lack of size and his average athleticism will probably prevent him from being a good defender in the NBA, especially in his first season, but i can see Neto becoming a decent defender.

A little off topic, but still talking about speed. I'd be more worried about Pleiss, he's really really really slow. Unless the Jazz trainning staff perform a miracle, he'll have a serious problem with the speed and athleticism of the NBA players.

Yeah, it was mostly due to his old team style of play. They only had like two guys in the entire roster that could create consistently with the ball in their hands (Raul and the other PG), most of the wings were spot up shooters. So they used a lot of pick and rolls, horns with Neto as the ballhandler and curls to open up for shooters.

Raul is definitely at his best when running the pick and roll, he's a natural playmaker, at times it looks like everytime he runs a pick and roll something really good will happen. He's less efficient if he just brings the ball, pass and park in the corner watching the play develop. Honestly, i didn't watch a lot of the Jazz last year and i can't say i'm familiar with the offense Snyder runs. But if it consists of good ball/player movement, with a couple of pick and rolls here and there (especially if it's with Gobert or Favors, or any athletic big man), well, then Raul is gonna be just fine. If he improves his jump shot, then even better.

Gracias Raul III

My favorite was the commentator on the Penultimate assist (that's the second to last assist for you frumpsters).

OraleOraleOrlaeOraleOraleOrale!!!

Neto has all sorts of Stockton in his game. The injury to Dante could be the setup for the second coming of my favorite player of all time.

New video (i'm not the person who uploaded, just sharing).
The only time I've watched him play an entire game was a couple of years ago in Summer League, and I was impressed. All the bad pub about his shooting stats had me concerned, but these vids give lots of reason for hope. Of course, highlight videos tend to do that. Here's hoping that our coaching staff can help with his shot. I think his shot selection is probably already pretty good because I didn't see him launch a single prayer in that entire mix.

here's a defensive compilation video:
