What's new

Raul Neto : new spectacular talent

This is professional basketball. Chemistry does matter, but at the end of the day, they're playing for a paycheck. The better they play, the bigger the paycheck. Even if Kanter does like Neto more because he's a foreigner (hey guess what, Burke is a foreigner to Kanter too), he's going to want the best player to play.

No necessarily. Kanter and the rest of them are playing for their next paycheck. Stats cash in more than wins do. Perhaps Neto is the guy that will get you less wins but will get Kantor or another guy more stats. It is reasonable to assume that all players are not on the same page as far as a winning team goes. It's like any business - there is a small percentage of employees who sabotage what is best for the group in favor of their own personal gain. I think making the Jazz clearly Trey's team is the way to go.

I like Neto's game, but I'm questioning why after trading for Burke, would they also traded for him. Just give the team to Burke and be done with it.

To bring out the best of his ability he needs to feel the most comfortable, some will say coddled. Neto's presence along with the wrong veteran PG (MO), could divide the locker room some from the start.

I think this viewpoint is nutters.

Jazz won't do that. You always have to plan for injuries. Burke misses games and then you're running the team with Tinsley, Neto and Burks? Not gonna happen.

This made me laugh. You do realize that last year we ran with Mo Williams, Watson and Tinsley. And when Mo went down we ran with Tinsley, Watson, and Burks.

We weren't prepared for an injury to our starting pg last year. No reason to proclaim that the Jazz won't be dangerously thin at PG once more.

Dude how awesome would that be to have the Darth Vader of Point Guards.
Heck no, Darth Vader was the ultamate draft day bust. Here he is, the most talented Jedi in the entire universe, and instead of using his power to bring about love and unity throughout the empire; he wastes his talents trying to fix his own nightmares, then proceeds to divide the entire empire (locker room) by bullying everyone. In the end, he only redeems himself by knocking off the emperor (getting his coach fired) ((Yes, i guess I just compared Ty to Emperor Palpatine; my bad)) and only realized the puts he's been at the end of his life (career).

NO THANKS

Burks. BURKS! Jeez, I completely forgot that he played the point, dang we have to get the season started. August and September are not going to be good for me. Burks is a solid semi veteran combo guard, as long a Tinsley is on the team to teach the rooks how to pass in the NBA, there is no need to bring back Mo at all. If Mo was the future, than there would have been no need to move up to get a point guard.

Random question: given the choice between Mo and Foye as a combo guard playing mostly at the 2, which would folks prefer? (Not that Mo would sign off on this)

^^I thought you were comparing Darth to Deron, as Williams once was part of the Light, then grew selfish and sullen, tried to take over the Empire by pushing out the Emperor (Sloan). It was only through the swift action of the other Jedi that the rebellious one was exiled to the Dark Side (New Jersey).

I'd probably take Foye. He's a bigger guard and played well with Burks last year in the limited time they had. We also need a SG more than a PG until Marvin comes back, as Hayward will need to play SF. Foye is also much cheaper and a better 3-pt shooter.

Yes and looked what happened. We were absolutely horrible at times. The last 2 months with Watson and Tinsley were unwatchable. Don't forget we also had Foye, who is a combo guard. So we're taking away Watson, Foye and Mo and only adding Burke? Forget Neto. He's not NBA-ready and will be stashed for at least one more season.

While Deron was not specifically who I was referencing, he only furthers my point and may have been an underlying source of information for my post.

This is so wrong on so many levels.

Fear is the great equalizer. It separates winners from losers. I'll use the good book against you. The bible teaches us to fear god. It's how god separates his chosen from the rest. He wants to test us to se if we will conform to his will. When we do we become more like him, and we reap the rewards.

We will either overcome fear or it overcomes us. Love is what comes when we put in the time and hard work as a result of overcoming our fears. Hard work and determination comes from fear. Love is the reward.

??? Are you still stuck in the Old Testament?

In the New Testament, Jesus specifially said that the GREATEST Commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your mind, and all your heart and all your soul and all your strength"???

I don't remember him saying "Fear the Lord your God with all your mind, all your heart....etc".

This is what happens whith a weak minded person who wants everything handed to him. If this is Burke then get him out, but as we know Burke has had to work for everything not being highly recruited. He's overcome his fears at every level this is his final test. His fear will either push him to greatness or outer darkness. There can be no other way.

Yeah but don't forget, fear is also what drove Anakin Skywalker to become Darth Vader. It's a double edged sword for sure.

Couldn't have said it better. Rep'd.

Agreed 100%.

When Sloan sat Deron for the first season, that was like what the corrupted Emperor did to try and keep the peace within the Federation. He was motivated by FEAR THAT Deron wouldn't be good enough.

Sure, Deron managed to fought through it, trained hard, and became a decent Jedi - but motivated by FEAR, in the end, he turned to the DARK SIDE. And the rest is history as we know it.

======================================

What Sloan should have done is what Yoda/Obi-wan showed when he both took in Luke Skywalker without any prejudice and trained him with loving kindness in their hearts. Luke fought with the Evil Empire, having that Love in his heart first and foremost and was able to overcome even his evil dad Darth Vader.

Interestingly... if Anakan wasn't overcome by FEAR and HATRED, Luke and Anakan would still be here with us today.

Love is not God's reward. Love is his free gift. He sent His only son to die for our sins. You simply accept it, or you don't. That's it, and that's how you overcome fear in God.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

An organization can put guys in positions to succeed or in positions to fail. Eliminating fears puts players in the best possible position to succeed. It's how the Millers have treated Ty. It doesn't mean they will succeed, but it gives them the best shot. Running a club based on fear is what Jerry Jones does with the Cowboys. No thanks.

John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

I believe we can summarize as, Neto is the new jedi who will bring peace to the universe. His ceiling is Anakin Skywalker, his floor is Jar Jar Bings.
