RealGM Mock Off-Season - Thoughts?

You had a good first round though. Pasecniks would be a great pick up.

There are still some interesting prospects on the board.

22. Sindarius Thornwell(this is old board, I have to drop him a bit)
23. DJ Wilson
25. Anzejs Pasecniks
27. Kyle Kuzma
32. Ivan Rabb
33. Thomas Bryant
34. Frank Mason III
Josh Hart...
Jonah Bolden...
Derrick White...

I think DJ Wilson is the value-pick version of Jonathon Issac in this draft. Not as young and bouncy obviously, but can do many of the same things. I wish he'd rebound more though, which makes me question his motor and desire.

Saint Cy of JFC you can rejoice. Kyle Kuzma is ours at pick 42.

Some interesting developments:
-Received the following offers for Favors:

Offer 1:
IND gets Derrick Favors + future 2nd round pick
UTA gets Thad Young + 2020 lottery protected 1st round pick

Offer 2:
OKC gets Derrick Favors
UTA gets Domantas Sabonis, Brandan Wright, OKC 2020(top 5 protected pick) 1st round pick

I'm also in negotiations to acquire Bradley Beal. The framework for it would be around Offer 2 and making it a 3-way deal:

UTA gets Beal
OKC gets Favors
WAS gets Hood, Sabonis, 2020 OKC 1st, Wright, Diaw(to be released)

WAS is pushing for another first rounder(better of Utah's 2018 picks). Would you give it to them for Beal?
Thoughts?

I usually love you stitches but these are never happening, especially the last deal. Favors is an expiring. The only way we get a 1st for him imo is from someone like the Cavs or Boston next February as the last piece in making a run and completing their team. The pick would be 26-30 anyway (so not very high) and they may see him as getting them over the hump.

OKC are looking to resign him as a part of their long-term future. The last deal might still not happen. We'll see... It's a mock off-season after all... nobody is pretending like this is done for anything more than fun time trying to build some version of the future for the teams.

Come on guys, give me more feedback on those...

Also he Jazz selected Anzejs Pasecniks with the 55th pick... so the following is our draft:

#24 Bam Adebayo
#30 Hamidou Diallo(will be stashed)
#42 Kyle Kuzma
#55 Anzejs Pasecniks

Our depth chart is this right now:

PG: George Hill*, Dante Exum, Shelvin Mack*, Raul Neto***
SG: Rodney Hood, Joe Ingles**,
SF: Gordon Hayward*, Joe Johnson
PF: Derrick Favors, Kyle Kuzma, Boris Diaw***, Trey Lyles, Joel Bolomboy***
C: Rudy Gobert, Bam Adebayo, Jeff Withey*, Anzejs Pasecniks
---------------------
* FAs in the summer
** RFAs in the summer
*** non-guaranteed contract

Yes on the Beal trade. That is a no-brainer in my opinion. It will completely change how you build the Jazz, though.

I would do the Beal trade in a second.

If you can get Bradley Beal you obviously do it.

Include the first rounder if you have to... I'd likely do both first rounders or include Lyles if you have to... generally can't get a $1 for 4 quarters in the NBA.

Hate to be a buzz kill, but OKC doesnt even own their 2020 first round pick to trade.

I will be offering Nikola Kalinic part of the MLE or the biannual exception... not sure yet.

You people are crazy.

Yes, we are. :D

The Beal deal puts us into luxury tax hell. If I'm calculating it correctly... we will be at 126M with Hayward at 30M, Hill at 20 and Beal at 24. That's before I even get to resigning Ingles(his caphold of 4M is included in the 126M), or adding any other players. Yikes!

I would guess if we got Beal the Jazz would renounce rights on Ingles (though I have no idea why Washington made that deal).

They haven't made it yet. They are putting out feelers to see what they can get. But they seem interested.

Pretty sure you pay the tax then or dump Ingles... Ingles is nice but he's not Beal. You could also try to move Exum for draft assets in future years to lessen the blow.

Do you guys like this roster in case I go through with the Beal trade:

Bolomboy, Joel $1,312,611.00
Beal, Bradley $23,700,000.00
Adebayo, Bam $1,579,440.00
Exum, Dante $4,992,385.00
Min contract/wing? $1,394,520.00
Gobert, Rudy $21,224,719.00
Hayward, Gordon $30,000,000.00
Hill, George $18,000,000.00
Nikola Kalinic $2,386,864.00
Ingles, Joe $8,000,000.00
Johnson, Joe $10,505,000.00
Lyles, Trey $2,441,400.00
Kuzma $870,000.00
Neto, Raul $1,471,382.00
Pasecniks, Anzejs $870,000.00
ALL $128,748,321

I will give Kalinic the bianual exception and I will add a wing on a minimum contract to be our 5th wing. We are over the luxury tax in this situation. Here's the depth chart if this happens:

PG Hill, Exum, Neto
SG Beal, Joe Ingles, min contract
SF Hayward, Nikola Kalinic
PF Joe Johnson, Lyles, Kuzma, Bolomboy
C Gobert, Bam Adebayo, Pasecniks

Even if I don't resign Ingles we are still going to be around the tax. One of the options is to let Hill go and try to sign Teodosic or Deron in FA with the MLE. This would cut the bill with about 10M and we will go under the tax.

If you had to choose between Hill + Hood or Deron/Teodosic + Beal which one would you choose?
