Reasons to visit Salt Lake

Actually, someone took some sort of gas powered saw and tried to cut it from the rock. Who knows how they planned on cracking it away...

Thanx a lot for all your responses, people. After reading through all this, the chances of us choosing to make Utah the first stop on our trip, have definitely increased.
Skiing is something I have been thinking of doing in Utah, as you definitely have a lot better ski resorts than we do in Norway. We have a lot of resorts, but noen that can compare to the ones in the Switzerland og Austria. I`ve watched a lot of alpine skiing from the US on tv, and have alwyas wanted to ski there. The problem is that I haven`t been doing much skiing for 20 years. Having just passed 40, it could get real ugly if I end up on the wrong course.
Regarding drinking laws and religion, I grew up in a small town where I was raised in a pentecostal church. You weren`t allowed to buy even beer in the town, so I know a bit about how that works.
I really appreciate all of your efforts to show me what to do in Salt Lake. We`ll make some decisions this weekend. If we choose to travel to Salt Lake, I`ll most definitely take up some of your offers to meet up.

We had to cut our vacation short by 1 week since we decided we`re not comfortable being away too long from the company we own and run. This means that Salt Lake City will have to wait. We landed in New York last night, will head to Vegas tomorrow and visit familiy in Phoenix before we round off our trip back in New York. Thanx again for all your tips and kind words. When we sell our company, I will visit for an extended period of time.
Have a good trip - - too bad you had to shorten your visit though. Plenty of snow in New York at the moment, but no skiing in Central Park. (well, not downhill at least)
Could always go to Maddison Square Garden if he wants to see things go downhill.
