Rebuilding the Jazz in a day, no tax

1) AK and a pick for Al Jefferson
2) Boozer TPE and a pick for Iguodala
3) Harp TPE for Gortat
4) MLE for Al Harrington

Based on hoopshype figures, Jazz salaries after above moves: 76.8M for 11 players

The cost-cutting moves:
1) Millsap for TPE or under-the-cap team and a pick
2) Miles for TPE or under-the-cap team

Jazz salaries after cost-cutting moves: 66.9M
Luxury tax level: 70.3M
The Jazz can add 3 minimum players and 1 million-dollar (1.7M) exception player to make 13-man roster.

So the Jazz surround Deron with a 6-10 low-post scoring PF, a really athletic SG, a 6-9 scoring SF, a defensive center, lotto kid Hayward as first wing off the bench, post-injury Okur a sub, and some low-cost players to round out the roster. At no luxury tax to the Millers.

Deron, Price, PG
Iguodala, SG
Harrington, Hayward
Jefferson, PF, PF/SF
Gortat, Okur, Koufos

Left holding the bag if one of those options falls through, which would likely happen.

Doesn't really help the Jazz in the long run. Jazz would EASILY be in the tax in subsequent years so it would be back to salary dumps.

Not that I agree with any of this. But don't sign Harrington and keep Milsap and CJ.

Deron,Gaines, Flash PG ( coaches son)
Iguodala,Jeffer
CJ/Hayward
Milsap/Okur/KK
Jefferson/Gortat

Our bench would suck big time.

So many wannabe GM's here.

Tell you what. Here are some options for you:

OPTION 1:
Go out into the world and make enough money to be able to buy an NBA team and then hire yourself as the GM. Get back to us when you have successful results.

Option 2:
You could try to get yourself hired as a GM, but I think option 1 is much more likely.

OPTION 3:
Do what you are doing already. Coming to a messageboard to complain about how lousy of a job some guys are going, guys who actually did Option 1 or 2

What about coming to a message board to criticize possible avenues the Jazz COULD do that they aren't doing? Please...This is a fan message board and people can propose or say what they want.

What a waste of a post that was.

KOC needs to get off his *** and start getting things done. If those trade exceptions go to waste, the torches and pitchforks will be out for him.

What should the Jazz work toward anyway? Cap space? Very few want to play in Utah unless they're overpaid. The Jazz can't even keep their own players. The Jazz need to trade for players that could help Deron before he also bolts in a couple of years.

Yeah I forgot to add that everything in the first four must happen, the second two for the Millers' sake. But, if ever, a starting lineup of Deron-Iguodala-Harrington-Jefferson-Gortat would be complete -- size and athleticism, scoring and defense -- and be able to compete with even those star-studded teams in LA and Miami.

You tell 'em dude.

I don't have problems with the trade proposals, nor the criticism of the Jazz. It's just unfortunate that generally no though or logic is put into either.

As for not using the TPEs, they should be though in the same way trades are. Don't use 'em just to use 'em. Only use them if it'll make the team better.

Oh, so my post was a waste, but you want to be able to post here about how much of a lose KOC is if he doesn't start doing things that are impossible.

There won't be any torches or pitchforks. Just a bunch of people like you making up more stupid scenairos that will never happen and never could happen.

Yawn. Is that you Greg telling me to buy my own team or just one of his kiss-asses?

Option I'm taking: I'll keep posting anything I want in this message board. Thanks and bye.

Work to 2011. New CBA will put many of the teams paying exorbitant amounts for free agents this year in a financial pickle and the Jazz would be one of the few teams cap healthy to take advantage of that. That lineup is a financial disaster in two years.

I don't buy any of this. Boozer and Mathews went out and got ridiculous deals. They didn't leave just to leave Utah. Jazz can still keep Mathews if they are willing to match the obsene deal.

Would you be happy right now if the jazz had given Boozer 80 million, Korver 15 million, and had already matched Mathews? The jazz could have done that if they wanted to and didn't mind having a payroll way over the LT

Players first and foremost want MONEY. They'll go where they can get the most. Then they'll talk about how it's all about winning.

It was a roundabout and clever way of saying YOU ARE A MORON WITH NO CONCEPT OF WHAT IS POSSIBLE OR WHAT SHOULD BE DONE BY AN NBA TEAM.

It must have worked. A bunch of you are sure getting your panties in a wad over it.

I'm sick of all the stupid fans here coming up with all these things the jazz should be doing when most of what they want the jazz to do is completely impossible.
I'm sick of fans who somehow think that the entire jazz front office is sitting around doing nothing just to piss you off.

Craig, I think that you're being a little bit harsh. JimmyJazz based his each of his proposed trades on players who were rumored to be available (although I don't recall reading as much about Gortat being available, and this is the least beneficial of the four ideas IMHO if Utah holds onto Fes and maybe KK2, who aren't much worse than Gortat). JJ's ideas seemed more plausible than many others.

Not sure why you're being an FO apologist. They've done some good things (Deron draft, trades for Fes and KK, etc.) but they've done some bad things, too (most egregious of which are re-signing Okur and AK a year too early).

That rocks, but there is just one small problem. The Jazz system is built on Values: Loyalty, integrity, and tradition. They are patient and deliberate.

Your suggestions require some other values: creativity, flexibility, risk taking and it might require the coach, GM, and owners to work.

...have you lost your CP3 mind??? You've got us unloading all our smart, team oriented players for hopper types with little or no basketball brains!

Well if you are so sick of reading all the comments then quit visiting the board. Get another interest because right now you sound like an annoying person who just likes to whine.

Everyone neg this jackhole. I can not stand the people that say some version of what I quoted. It's either that or the other dorks saying "[smarmylisp] None of use are spending the money, so until you become rich and own a franchise we have no right to criticize or have opinions on what the organization should be doing.[/smarylisp]" **** off. We are fans, this is a message board, and this is what we do, even if the majority of it is ****ing retarded. Elitist scum suckers go ram your collective heads into a boulder.
