Recommend a good game, cheap seats?

Hi, some of you may remember me from the old JazzFanz forums (wow, 8-10 years ago?). Around 2003 I quit watching NBA ball because I realized I was tired of watching "professionals" corrupt the game of basketball. The free throw parade is NOT entertaining to me, nor is the flopping and other antics attempting to play the referees. Sometimes I pick up a classic game where people practically had to commit murder to get called for a foul and I weep for the death of my favorite sport. The game flow is so much better without using officiating as a weapon for one more point.

Anyway.

My wife and kids are starting to be interested in the Jazz, and they asked me to get some tickets for a game. In all my years, I have to admit I never paid for a game (ranging between mid-lower bowl and nosebleeds, with a couple visits to box seats). It's looking like my connections are dried up though, and I might have to shell out some bux to see a live game.

Since I haven't watched the NBA for years (last night I was wondering when the hell Oklahoma got a team), can anyone recommend a good game that might be reasonably priced for a family of four? I found the J-Tix site which seems to be a good way to gauge the demand on certain games and where I might get some "cheap" nosebleeds (I resist the temptation to continue on a rant about millionaires taking the game out of the hands of casual fans, looking at the price of tickets and concessions) but I wanted to get some advice from some of the regulars on this board.

:)

(Hey, I have a notion. Instead of using the free throw as a way to punish teams for fouls, how about just awarding possession, or shot clock resets? The officials need to go back to being nameless faces instead of celebrity players who set the tone of the game as their moods see fit.)

Use stubhub.com. Typo the address to something like stubub.com and IzeofLight's company will get a cut.

...well, I'm in your corner, but not for the same reasons! The game has definitely been corrupted, but it's not the free throws or fouls....it was the corruption of the rules, such as palming and traveling...especially palming! Anyway, as far as cheap tickets are concerned, they couldn't be cheap enough for me even if they gave them away for free! But you can generally go the day of the game and get the nose bleed seats for 10 bucks or sometimes even less. I doubt that's changed since the last time I went to a game!

I can possibly get you three seats for Sacramento on Monday. Let me talk to my colleagues that sit next to me and see if they are cool with it.

Heh. CarolinaJazz hasn't changed his tune in 8 years either. :D

VERY much appreciated, but Monday is too soon for us. Lots of nasty work commitments in the next couple weeks.

Understood! Hope you enjoy the game. Jazz basketball is a beautiful thing. Now is a great time to start getting back into it. This is a very new team.

Agreed. Deron Williams makes me feel all funny inside. I just wish Kirilenko has the same mojo he had in his first couple years.

I just went to the Thunder game last Monday night and we found our tickets on KSL. They were lower bowl just behind hte Thunder bench. They were asking 100.00 a piece and i offer 60.00 and we made a deal. Its better then smithtix or some of the offer sites, because you dont have to pay tax, handling, and shipping fees.

Your save alittle money that way and maybe can find better seats for a better price. But the games our way fun even if they lose (dang you Kevin Durrant!)

Flash Seats isn't bad (link from the Jazz website). You can bid auction style and sometimes win at a decent price, say the Wednesday before T'Giving vs. the Hornets …

The convenience of it is cool, but having to pay 23% of the ticket price in fees isnt worth it unless you get a really good deal.

Good to see you again man. Don't worry about most of the responses here...this board is night and day from what it was back then.

Can't help you with your question though. My guess would be a game against a crappy opponent like the Kings coming up or something. Last night's game the tickets were probably cheaper. Or should have been anyway with that god awful product that was on the floor.
