What's new

Remarkably Deep

Yes we are deeper and have skill set that we as Jazz fans are not used to seeing. However I think switching Hayward and Favors into the starting lineup improves our team all around. The Four our are future and we need to find out if they have it or not now. This is Hayward and Favors third year. Time to step up boys. Having Williams and Millsap on the second unit will dramtically increase that units scoring. Millsap will beast on the backup PFs.

I do not trust Mo and iam scared he is gonna be head ache in the locker room, yea PF must be Favors in the starting line up to make equal the bench (Millsap+Kanter). Hayward is an obligation at 2 if Marvin stays strong at the 3 and when Burks steps up on the court, Hayward gotta slide to 3. Also Al's min gotta be as 30 min, not more.

As far as thoughts on your thread, IMO you devalue Harris and overrate the guys brought in somewhat.

that's par for the course. we're generally a lot more familiar with outgoing players' weaknesses than with incoming players' weaknesses. when we've been rooting for harris for a year and a half or for CJ for 7 years, it's a lot easier to remember every miss and every bad decision. when atlanta or LAC comes to town, it's pretty normal for fans to not even notice a marvin type player or mo williams except when they do something good because they're not on our radar much except to the degree that they hurt the jazz.

that's why everybody is forgetting that these players have flaws, too. foye and marvin have been looked at as pretty big disappointments in their careers thus far, and mo is a much better shooting guard than a point guard.

i'm not saying i don't have high hopes for all three -- but at this point, that's all they are: hopes. there's a good chance that 1, 2 or all 3 of them won't magically transform into the players we are imagining, and by january some fans will be ready to ship them out of town however possible.

Does he have a history of not being a good teammate or causing chemistry issues?

  1. Mo Williams|Jamaal Tinsley|Earl Watson
  2. Randy Foye|Alec Burks|Kevin Murphy
  3. Gordon Hayward|Marvin Williams|DeMarre Carroll
  4. Derrick Favors|Paul Millsap|Jeremy Evans
  5. Al Jefferson|Enes Kanter

Mo is absolutely an upgrade over Harris. I cant comprehend people who choose to deny this.
Rest of moves were well done, for what we have. Im excited for the season, should be fun to watch play out.

I see two players who are strong in opposite areas, a step sideways. Assuming Mo is a better playmaker or defender is false. Devin is not a great distributor either but that doesn't make Williams any better.

Devin was disinterested and underwhelming for about 2/3 of his time here and deserves to be criticized for that. But he really came on down the stretch last year. He disappeared again in the playoff series but so does Mo.

My point is these guys are not great players, either of them. It's and upgrade only in the sense that Williams fits a lot better with an offense focused on frontcourt players. Mo will be a better aging player too.

Don't understand this at all. Mo has always been the consummate pro. Several times in his career he's had to move over from PG (when TJ Ford returned, when the Clips got CP3) and become an undersized SG. And in Cleveland, he obviously handled the ball less than most PG's because of Lebron. In his prime he was a 17/6 player. Fewer assists than what you'd like to see, certainly. But he has shown he is ok with sharing the playmaking role, and that's important because I think Hayward and Burks will be initiating a lot of plays.

i will say this -- mo at PG works a lot better if the plan is play him off the ball so gordon can create more and mo can be our jason terry.

because if we're expecting mo to be our full-time playmaker, the offense is going to struggle.

Iam not sure. He is just too cocky and thinks himself a star player even though he is just ballhog. Also, he was so flatterer to the star players he played with. And his toughness is so overrated to me. Big question mark for me when i compare him with Harris.

My personal concern is we no longer have a driver on the starting unit. And Hayward didn't exactly excel in the PnR last year. To say nothing of the fact we didn't run PnR last year. That said, I do have hopes Hayward can improve in the PnR game because that's where he can take a huge step forward.

Mo is good at running the P&R and stepping back for the open shot if the defense cheats. Favors should evolve into a decent P&R guy.

Lol Mo Williams cocky?

Regardless, I think Marvin Williams can make his career spark here. His career is far from over, and he was a former #2 pick. He just needed a better system I feel to play in.

I understand the comments about some of the things Mo has said/done but the same argument could be made for Jamaal Tinsley. Ever since arriving in Utah though, he has been a humble leader and a consummate pro. I think we should reserve judgment about Mo's attitude until we actually have something to evaluate this season.

Yeap, Comes from cleveland days with Lebron. Guaranteeing the victories on playoffs, guessing the score and statistics etc. But he failed at most of them

He may seem cocky, but Mo is a down to earth kind of guy, who loves to compete and enjoy his teamates. I don't mind it when someone predicts a win.
