Reputation Comments, positive and negative

No, you'd be sitting there with however much rep power you've earned from other posters and as an admin, I would currently have 11.
I know I have my own style of street-tuff strut "bearding the lion" of the huge intelligence database factory being built at Camp Williams. The State of Utah hosting an obscenity like that, with support from Mormon politicians like Huntsman and Romney is a direct insult to Utah's conservatives who still actually believe in the 4th Amendment. I intend to run a state house campaign promising to halt that construction with state lawsuits on the constitutionality of the mislabeled NDAA and Patriot Act provisions. The Utah Constitution has a fairly complete re-statement of the rights that are being transgressed by the Feds, and they should be prosecuted in State Court and their facilities locked up. NOT IN UTAH. And Fed officers arresting people on the streets in Utah and denying constitutional rights of due process should be locked up for LIFE on criminal charges.
But by comparison of the issues at stake, I think it's classless to just make myself obnoxious in a private forum. If Colton or Jason told me they just don't want my comments in here, well, because they don't want their site shut down, I'd just get a sign and go out on the street to say what needs saying.
Trout, you should just step up to the standard Colton is trying to lay down, whether there is or is not context and precedent for your "cuteness".

Fixed, and I agree.
I think Colton's rep power is accumulated the same way yours is, but that's not the issue. He's apparently trying to moderate the discussions in here without actually passing out some infractions. It takes a sort of style to try to do that, something above a capricious over-eager agenda-pushing power-mad overlord, say.
It's like me being a landlord who tries to work with some people who fail to live up to their end of the lease agreement, just talking to them instead of evicting them. Those who abuse me while I'm doing that force me to reconsider my approach.

Reality is that I would likely be between catratcho and billyshelby in rep power, since my reputation is between theirs, I've been on the site the same length of time, and I've got about the same number of posts. So about a rep power of 9.

No, the administrators' rep power gets set independently. The two admins are Jason and me. We don't accumulate rep power at all--it stays fixed until I manually adjust it. Since I think Jason and I should be able to affect reputations as much as, say, Loggrad (I think he's currently the one with the most rep power), I periodically adjust our rep power to be equal to Loggrad's.
The stupid thing is that if I really was as power hungry as trout and YB seem to think, I really could just give myself a rep power of 100. Or I could decrease their reputations by editing them manually to whatever level I wanted. Etc.
I get the feeling that most everyone cares about rep much more than they pretend to (not) care. Bordy's gonna keep playing it cool, though. Rep means nothing to me.
Despite the fact that the first thing I check when I come to this site is my reputation, I don't need the electronic validation to feel better about myself as a poster.
Just because I spend all of my free time trying to craft my posts in such a way as to maximize rep potential doesn't mean I'm in any way insecure.
When I introduce myself to people by telling them my name, occupation, rep power, and that I have 4 kids is no indication that I have serious social issues.
The fact that I've got a tattoo of 9 greenish rounded rectangles near my [pre-edited by bordelais7 for inappropriate body location] is completely unrelated, I swear, with any perceived obsession that it's important to me to be loved by hundreds of people that 1) I don't know and 2) are generally idiots.
The rest of you can keep on lusting after rep. Not me, though. Bordy couldn't care less.

Dangit, I was going to cover it for you spazz, but I got the same message. Well bordy you can expect a +24 or so in the near future.
That was a well crafted post, all the way down to overstating rep power. I wouldn't be surprised if it pushes 100. Feel free to brag about it in a couple days.
