Rest Easy Stu Scott

Most famous people that die....I'm like....yeah....I saw 3 of his movies and they all sucked....big whoop. 6 hours of my life. I can't even begin to calculate the hours SportsCenter has been on in the background at my house over the years though. Definitely feel this one more than usual. I thought I read he was on the mend too awhile back so it's kind of surprising.

I agree, usually when famous people die im like, "who? Oh. That sucks. All well!"

But I genuinely feel bad about this. He sounded like a cool guy and he played such a big part of my tv life. And at age 49? That's just way too early.

i kinda viewed myself as the (poor mans) stuart scott of jazzfanz -- bringin flava and style and unconventional (and oft-hated on) soul to an otherwise pasty and conservative and mundane platform. his usage of poetry in sports commentary was underrated, i could tell he put alot of effort into his craft, that others did not. may he Rest In Peace. and may he live on within his daughters and the countless others who are folllowin in the path he blazed. BOO YAH.

Dude would ailing during breaks but once he'd go live he was flawless. Guy was strong, he fooled us all into thinking he was kicking cancers ***, almost as if he had Saiyan powers.

I'm proud to say I actually got the opportunity to talk with Stu on the phone for a good 4-5 minutes with my brother when we were around 11 or so. My dad had some kind of hookup and was able to work out having him call us at home to surprise us. It was way cool and he wanted us to come up with something to say on the air. All we could think of was "You gotta love it baby" from Hotrod so that very night on Sportscenter about 45 minutes into the show he looked right at the camera and said it (can't remember what the highlight for was for though). So many of those Sportscenter anchors from the mid-90's played such a big role in my love for sports. Once we got cable and ESPN when I was 10 I just watched all the time and I am sure if it wasn't for Sportscenter I wouldn't be the avid fan I am today of all sports.

RIP Stu
