Ricky Rubio / Eurobasket

Doncic is such a baller! His skill and IQ are tremendous! He just pretty much dragged Slovenia to a win vs Greece while Dragic was out with foul trouble.

Judging by the video, Rubio's lay-ups still look quite awkward, IMO. It's like he doesn't know when to jump, when to lift off, and keeps just running while moving his upper body as if he was making a more usual lay-up. No wonder he can't really finish from inside in the NBA.

Markkanen is having another crazy clutch performance right now! WOW!

That game tying shot looked very Kobe-esque.

His shot is pure. He's just scratching the surface. I think his offensive game is more advanced than Porzingis' when he was coming into the league. Might have problems defensively, but I think he will be a good player in the league.

He's been pretty good defensively for Finland at least. Seems to understand defense.

BTW I want to point out that this is NOT normal. Young players don't usually get the playing time, let alone the carte blanche to decide games at FIBA level. Doncic and Markkanen are a bit of an exception, not the rule.

He's the epitome of a stretch-5. That trade Chicago made may not look so bad in a few years.

Yeah, his D has been alright at FIBA Euro, but I think he will have problem deterring long athletes in the paint... at least he did have that problem at Arizona. In a weird way he's better defending in space and on the perimeter right now.

His rim protection has been pretty good so far. He gave Dragic problems finishing around him. He seems to be in position more times than not.

Agree he does look awkward. But the court vision he shows on some of those passes is impressive. Jazz teammates are going to have to be ready at all times; I predict a few embarrassing TO's until everyone gets used to that mentality.

As for Rubio's weaknesses...well, he's actually still young (26). Let's see if Quin and the development staff can improve a few things. Gobert, Hayward, Hill, Ingles: all had career years last season. I think Lindsey now knows Quin isn't a miracle worker: he can't take DLeague scrubs and turn them into starters (like CJohnson and Elijah), nor can he resuscitate the dead, but he can take talent and refine and improve. Rubio has a ton of talent. There's no reason he can't maintain and build upon what he showed over the last half of the season. I'm kind of disappointed he can't be working with the training staff now.

I just like Rubio's terrorists look... I'm in on the badass Ricky rubio
