Rodney Hood Interview on youtube...

Hood seems to guinely like Hayward and respect him. It sounds like they were friends and he was as surprised as anyone he left. I'm glad Hood has been training similar to how the Jazz had Hayward training. They have differences but are fairly similar players in a lot of ways.

I wonder if Hood will step up into a leadership role this season.

Rodney's gonna own it this season. He can score in bunches easily and has shown it many times during the season. 18-20 pts I"ll say this upcoming season.

When he was healthy, and more featured early on in the season (for Hayward's brief injury), he was REALLY good. If he can somehow give us that same kind of productivity for a season that can almost definitely make up for what we lost with Gordon.

Rodney averaged 17.9 ppg in the 7 games he played in that Hayward didn't.

I think the scoring in bunches is an issue. I prefer to see him more consistent and knock down 6-8pts per quarter instead of 20 pts in 1 qtr, he can't go cold for long stretches this year.

Here's a thread on reddit by Rgiss on Hood's numbers without Hayward:

https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/6m9vpi/rodney_hood_averaged_2235020_on_555_ts_272_usg/

Rodney Hood averaged 22.3/5.0/2.0 on 55.5 TS% 27.2 USG% per 36 when Gordon Hayward was on the bench this past year

22.3/5.0/2.0 on 55.5 TS% 27.2 USG% per 70 possessions, which is per 36 for the Jazz but closer to per 34 for regular paced teams. The Jazz had a 110.8 ORtg and a 109 DRtg. (1295 poss sample size)

Compare this to Hood averaging 13.7/4.4/2.2 on 47.8 TS% 19.6 USG% per 70 possessions when paired with Hayward (2170 possessions sample size) The Jazz had a 108.4 ORtg and 107.8 DRtg when they were both on the floor.

I think Hood will be a serious candidate for MIP this year.

Bonus: Gobert averaged 16.2/14.3 on 68.2 TS% per 36 when Hayward sat last year

The question is who will replace Hoods productivity. Hood is capable of replacing Haywards role.

Burks + Ingles + Spidey is my hope.

Favors coming into his own would be nice to have as a net gain.
