Rondo Trade?

Rondo sucks bruh!!!

It's not an awful idea. I wish we could get a draft pick or some money from them.

Since no Burks deal has happened yet, I assume there hasn't been anyone willing to just take him. I'm guessing the Jazz are waiting on Hayward to sign. If he doesn't sign, there isn't the same urgency to dump Burks. The Jazz can give Ingles a 12,000,000 contract and still have 20 million left in cap-space (assuming the Jazz don't sign Hill to if Hayward doesnt comeback).

*If* Hayward comes back though, I bet the Jazz put up their first round pick in order to get out of Burks contract.

woah, that's a hot take (and a terrible one).

He is one of the best PG defenders in the league. He is also one of the better facilitators in the league. The big knock has been that he cant space the floor and shoot well enough from three. This year he shot 37% from three and last year it was 36.5%. Those numbers are good enough.

He could definitely push Exum and he could definitely start for the season if needed or move out of the way for Exum if he steps up.

People knock on him for his attitude and other issues but kids grow up and Rondo seems like he has matured a lot.

What is your knock on him?

You proposed a trade for Rondo. I said no thanks. Can you read is the question?

Good lord dude. The trade isnt to get Rondo on the team. The trade it to get Rondo and immediately cut him to clear cap-space (because his contract is non-guaranteed before July 1st). You are a halfwit of the largest order.

If Chicago wants Burks, sure, decent idea. But why would they want Burks? If this was the motive, Chicago could get a ton more than Burks and a 2nd

He is one of the worst defensive PGs in the league. Have you watched basketball lately?

I know, he played 2 good playoff games so that erases the last 4 years of garbage he has put on the court.

Yes, I watched him shut down IT. When he is engaged he is an excellent defender. He played good defense most of the season.

Edit: I guess shut down IT is a bit too much but his defensive presence was one of the big factors in winning those games and most of his career has been excellent defense except a couple years where he was not doing much and not trying with some of his teams.

I would not want him on this team. He's terrible in the locker room. There's a reason he's never stuck with any one team for any substantial length of time despite being a solid player.

He has been terrible in the locker room in the past. This year seems like he was not terrible in the locker room. He was a solid leader to the young players by most accounts and a solid teammate. Even in Sacramento he was liked in the locker room.

People can grow up, and I believe Rondo has. It would still be a risk for a variety or reasons but less of a risk than Teodisic and every player has their risks. I think there are better options but I think he is a solid one. I think he is a better option than Rubio or Beverly.

This is weirder than your "Favors is better than Millsap" takes.

The Bulls insist they have made no formal decision on whether to pick up Rondo's $13.4 million option or waive him for the $3 million guarantee by that deadline. But while the Bulls greatly value Rondo's talent and teaching and mentoring ability, they also know their young point guards Kris Dunn and Cameron Payne need to play. And they also still have Jerian Grant.

According to sources, one option being considered is waiving Rondo and trying to re-sign him at a lower salary. However, Rondo restored his standing around the league with his professionalism and playoff performance under trying circumstances last season and is expected to draw interest from at least the Pelicans and Pacers in free agency. So that move would be a risk.

Here is a quote or two about him and what Bulls want to do with him.

Lol. You're very overrating Rondo.

Why would Denver want Trey Lyles and 24 for the 13th pick? Sometimes teams just like certain players. I just got the idea because Wade has called Burks the most underrated player in the league and Chicago just made a horrendous trade that I wouldnt have thought possible before it was made.

I have no idea what Chicago's plan is and like I said in the OP, which you clearly never read, "I know the answer is probably no".

Rubio is a better defender, a better shooter, probably close to equals in facilitating.

Rondo has out shot Rubio from 3 by quite a bit the last three years. Rubio shot 30% to Rondos 37%.

Based on the playoffs this year when Rondo was engaged I would say Rondo is a much much better defender. Maybe you dont get an engaged Rondo but he has really turned it around.

I would agree they are around the same level of facilitator. I might even give a slight edge to Rubio right now for his creativity.

Although how Rubio responds to playoffs is still a question mark since he has never played in them. Rondo has a large edge in experience in the playoffs and winning.

Chicago also loved his leadership, professionalism and mentoring of the young players this year. That fits well with what the Jazz are doing.

I think Hill is a better all around player but his contract amount and the number of years he wants is concerning along with his nagging toe injury that may or may not heal up properly.

*Player mails it in for 4 straight years then tries to convince people he is going to start trying again because he played 2 good playoff games*

He turned things around long before the playoffs. He had a solid season in Chicago and the staff was very pleased with him. He also did well with his time in Sac town, especially considering the wreck that team was. But yes he did mail it in at the end with Boston and was upset with them, he also mailed it in with Dallas. I would not want him on the team unless he was committed.

But I guess to comment on your original idea. No. That is a waste of time. I would rather just see if Burks can get healthy and play again. If he is back and healthy and plays like he did before than a team will trade from him something of worth. The only reason to do that move is if we had someone we needed to sign and didnt have the cap space to do that. Maybe the Jazz have a target and this would be a good move then, but not now without a target.

If we wanted Rondo, no thanks.

If Chicago wants Burks, sure.

But this trade is similar to saying: hey Houston, we have space and a nonguaranteed, will you please let us take Ryan Anderson? C'mon man
