RonvsMitt

Ron Paul supporters dont' seem to understand he has a ceiling level of support he can get to.

As opposed to the other candidates who, if they play their cards right, could get to 100% support.

Not quite sure what your point is. Has Ron Paul reached that ceiling (like he supposedly did the last time around)?

For an idiot like me, would you please explain this? Seriously, I'm not quite sure what you're saying.

What bordy said, minus the prickish aura.

I do not think Ron Paul has any shot at getting the nomination. What he does have a shot at, in my opinion, is getting far enough to warrant a prime time speaking position at the RNC convention in July (or whenever it is). With that he could lay the key peice in the ground work he has been laying for a future politician to win that has his ideas.

Yeah he may not have a chance, but that's only because the mainstream media controls who gets the nomination.

I'd vote for Paul 1000000000000000 times before I'd ever vote for Romney. For me, it's a trust issue. I can't trust Romney! He was a liberal in the 90s, a moderate (that's what he campaigned on in the last campaign) in the early 2000s, and now he's trying so hard to pander to the far right.

To me, it comes across as desperate. He seems to crave the white house too much. He would have been better off sticking to his guns and let people like/dislike him by what he stood for. Just like Paul. Love him or hate him, the dude doesn't BS. He doesn't run away from his ideals. He doesn't cave to pander to a specific faction. Which is what I had hoped Romney to be. Instead, I, like most Americans, have no clue what he stands for. Other than, of course, flip flopping and saying anything to be liked.

In Basketball terms, he's that sucky player with potential who isn't confident enough in his abilities to stand up and let his "game" do his talking. He's... CJ Miles. He might make a lot of sense one day (score 30 points and actually look like Ray Allen) or completely flip flop the next (5 points off 2-13 shooting). Does CJ have the ability to beat Obama? Sure! He's talented and super sexy for scouts. But you never know what to expect.

Ron Paul, is like Millsap. He's undersized. Not nearly as sexy as Griffin or Amare. But like it or not, you know what he's going to bring to the table night in and night out. He doesn't impress scouts. He looks like he was born during the civil war. He talks weird with big eyes wide open. Just like Millsap, scouts look at his size and talent and they go, "hmmm meh." But you know what he brings to the table.

His son being the obvious beneficiary. The problem for me is that we are approaching the too far gone phase(. You can hang your hat on furthering ideas and say, "Okay, in 4 or 8 more years people will be ready for a Ron Paul clone to be president." or something optimistic like that. And he in fact says he is still going to be an active advocate of his ideas even though he won't be a direct part of the political system anymore if he loses - which is good. But I don't think it gets us anywhere.

And although I disagree with a lot of OWS tactics/ideas, I think their wont to urgency is the most correct thing they are offering. These years of waiting for changes that are never going to come through the electoral system are for the birds. If somebody in a high enough position isn't going to say No, the little guys are going to have to.

Obviously I'm saying his ceiling is lower than other candidates bordy. He represents too radical a break and is too easily portrayed as crazy.

By the time the man is in his 90s at his current growth rate of popularity he might be a viable candidate.

I think someone is going to pick up on his liberty ideas and just say the right stuff on Iran and in 4 years if Romney isnt running for a second term, win the nomination. Imagine if Ron Paul just said he would look at the intelligence on Iran and decide at that point what he would do. Would the media really have anything to say against him?
