Roster Addition Wish List

I'm beginning to think a trade is the only way we're going to get that third piece to go along with Mitchell and Gobert. It looks like Harris wants to stay with the Clippers and Middleton will likely stay with the Bucks. I'm not sure we will ever be able to land a big time free agent.

I mean, of course he wants to stay, it's LA and they can offer him the most years and money.

I dont think they can sign a max FA with Harris cap-hold, even if they renounce everyone.

I think its Middleton, Niko, Tobias... with Niko being most likely... then I think we look to other positions or trades with incoming salary. Either Otto Porter types or one year salary dumps like Gallo or Marvin Williams. Outside chance that Aaron Gordon becomes available... really don't think we will consider Love but maybe DL gets impatient (I hope not).

Does Niko at the max provide more value than Niang and Crowder at their contract numbers? Are there wings we could spend the money on and get more bang for our buck? PGs?

They can. They are at about 35M if they renounce everyone and if their draft pick conveys to Boston. They could also trade Gallo for less incoming salary or find a home for Harrell or Lou if they want to keep Thornwell, Wallace etc.

Ran it on Capulator... which still has cap at 108 and I think it is going to be 109 now.

I missed it, What did DL say?

Him and Locke both mentioned maybe you get the guy in trade before FA. It was pre-season... I heard it enough that it stuck. Nothing specific on Niko.

I had hoped the Clips would suck and would move Tobias at the deadline because they didn't want to keep him. They may not pony up a max deal for him... but with West in there they are pretty shrewd... they could re-sign him with intent to trade later... like they did to Blake.

The AD unhapiness index seems to be rising steadily... I think that Niko might have a better chance at being available if they think AD wants out or that he wants to bring back boogie... they'd need to renounce Niko to sign Boogie. AD mentioned maybe Demarcus would be back in his recent interview... only reason I mention it.

The NO teardown could be something to keep an eye on. If Jrue became available and we swiped him I'd be over the moon. Perfect compliment to DM and just a great fit in the new NBA... so versatile.

Yeah the Clippers could sign 2 max guys this summer. Amazing what trading Blake and letting Jordan walk has done for their long term prospects.

The absolute lowest number they can get to gives them 34 million in space because of all the minimum roster charges.

They would be a really shallow team after letting all those guys go though.

Their first rounder might go to Boston... I assumed it would. I think they could get off of Gallo's money and could likely find a taker for Bradley's $2M guarantee... if not I waived and stretched it to get to almost $36M.

Either way it is very doable and waiving Wallace and Thornwell won't hurt that much.

If it starts to get ugly with Anthony Davis, and an extension was in place, would Gobert+Allen+Exum+Favors and two 1sts be enough to get Anthony Davis (and Wesley Johnson’s expiring)?

Would the Hornets be able to get a better deal? I’m not sure they could get someone as impactful and young as Gobert plus the picks and other guys.

To get Niko or Harris we have to offer the most or equal money and be viewed as a significant upgrade in competitiveness or role... or both.

I think NO could balk at the price of Niko... I think the Clips could fall off when Gallo goes down with an injury. As of right now we don't look better but its super early.

I could see Utah and LAC making a Favors+2nd rounder for Gallo trade. That seems like not enough for Gallo now, but he will probably be hurt by the time Favors is eligible to be traded.

I've thought about a straight swap... second rounder or no. He is so tempting because if healthy he's perfect and seems to be benefiting from freedom of movement. We could also sustain injuries by giving Crowder, Niang, Thabo more minutes... so long as he's healthy at the right time.

I think theyd be very tempted, but if he is still healthy when Favs is eligible they may want to chance it. Operating over the cap this summer would allow us to use MLE on other areas of need because we are operating over the cap.

Gallo is nuclear hot right now... not sure if he is just healthy again, benefiting from new rules, or just on a hot streak.

Sounds like our best hope is that two big time free agents want to sign with the Clippers. If they don't, they'll likely fall back on Harris on the other max. The odds seem to be getting less likely we sign him as time goes on dang it.

It the Clips really have 0 interest in dumping him at the trade line, I really think the Jazz should just make a run at Otto Porter giving Washington the salary dump. At least that way we could guarantee we're landing another piece.

His health issues aren't any singular chronic debilitating thing. He just gets random injuries a lot.

Last year, but he had a knee or some other injury that had multiple operations... I think because they effed up the first one. He may be over it... and I guess he didn't miss last year because of the knee. I also think Doc rushed him back... did it with Dudley too.

Nah, he had a glute injury, then a minor knee thing, then a hand injury that ended his season with surgery.

We were rumored to have interest in Gallo prior to signing with the Clips... Just not sure he is a long term piece... not sure how well he ages.

If we got Gallo does it kill our chances at landing OP Jr. or similar trade candidate? Could probably still make it happen if they got serious about trading him.

He tore his ACL and missed a whole season when with Denver. Then was in and out of the lineup for a few years after.

The Clippers will get lucky if they get one.

Another name to watch is Harrison Barnes.. he may opt out and I could see us having interest. I'm not a huge fan but I think he could be had this summer. Would not want to give him the max doe.
