Roster cuts

Dee bost and Kevin Murphy were waived today. The roster stands at 17 players now. Who else do you think will be waived?

I think the real callout here is if you're all about that bass, that bass, no treble...

It's going to be a difficult choice between Motum and Jones, IMO. Dahntay brings toughness on a team lacking someone with a bad*** attitude. Jazz are already overloaded at the bigs, but Clark, Felix and Hood are/have been hurt.

I think Cooley is definitely gone. The last spots may come down to Murry, Jones or Motum. Hard to see Murry being cut, though, since the Jazz really pursued him.

I like Toure Murry a lot. Good passer and deceptive quickness.
If there was a better outside shooter then Murry fighting for a spot I would pick him. But there isn't so I would go with Murry.

I don't want Jones taking minutes from the young guys.

I honestly am not a fan of Ian Clark though. I don't like his shot release or his playmaking abilities. So I don't see a point in keeping him besides that his contract is guaranteed.

But to be honest I am happy with any of these players when it really comes down to it. All of them seem like good coachable guys who work hard.

The best part of this is that the last couple of cuts are going to be very tough decisions. You could make an argument to keep any of those guys as they all have qualities which could help the team. It's going to get tougher and tougher to make the team each year...and that just means the Jazz are getting better and deeper.

Can't they put Felix on inactive or assign him to the d-league until he's healthy and in shape and decide at a later date who to release?
I think Toure is a lock. They will see a lot of DeMarre in him and he'll be good for the chemistry and culture.

I agree with Ian Clark as the most likely to get cut.

I also agree with Ian Clark because he is not a PG but an undersized SG. I haven't seen enough of Felix or Toure to have an opinion but I do like Motem. There are going to be some tough decisions which is a nice problem to have.

Nope, doesn't work that way. To assign a player to the D-League, he has to be a member of the 15-man roster.

This. I've never really liked Clark's game. I went to the Summer League and not only does his shot look weird, it isn't consistent. He seemed to be shooting the ball a little different every time. He will stay because he is a guaranteed contract, and Murray will most likely stay because he is partially guaranteed.

I'm in agreement with everyone that Cooley is probably out so I think the last roster spot will come down to Motum or Jones.

I am really bummed that Kevin Murphy got cut. I was cheering for him above everyone that we signed. I loved that he came into the pre-season game in garbage minutes and got 4 points, 1 assist, and 1 reb (from memory) in 4 minutes. What more can you ask of a last minute sub? Bummer...

You can make a case for keeping Motum OR Jones.

Jones might fetch a 2nd-rounder at the deadline from a contender. Motum plays a position that is stacked, but I liked his effort in SL.

Jones was a FA all last year and no one picked him up.... He would fetch nothing.

True. But if he gets steady mins with the Jazz, he'd be seen as good insurance, especially since he's defensive-minded. I think there's more opportunity for Dahntay to get P/T than there is for Motum. Not saying Utah should keep Jones. My choice would be Motum for the last spot.

Jones will be like Mike Harris last year. If he makes the team he will probably be cut before they have to guarantee. I suspect Murlphy wasn't doing what coach wanted. I agree that was a pretty nice line in the presason game in 5 minutes I think.
