Roy Moore justifications

This is off topic, but I didn't want to start its own thread. With all the people coming out and saying they were groped lately, I had a different perspective about one of them than I would have had before. I read about Bush senior who allegedly groped a teenager in 2003 (I think.) At the very end of the article it mentioned that his family and friends said it was because of his age, condition and Parkinson's.
I do not condone groping, harrassing or anything of that nature and I want to be clear about that. Earlier this year, my grandpa died. My grandma died about 3 years before him. My grandpa was a very soft spoken, kind, funny and about as good of a man I can think of. After my grandma died, my grandpa started behaving differently. His personality changed drastically and some of his actions changed. He was in his 80s and we got a phone call saying he got arrested. He was at a grocery store and in the parking lot he stopped a couple and asked the husband if he would trade his wife to have sex with him in exchange for a bag of potatoes (which he didn't have.) After this he was diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's. It was clear my grandpa wasn't being anything like grandpa. Although we kind of joked that grandpa was losing it, I know my dad took it hard and was embarrassed. I started to do research on dementia and Alzheimer's and learned hyper-sexuality and drastic behavior changes are symptoms of those illnesses and common. I never knew that and never recalled reading about this before. I told my dad about it and explained why grandpa changed. Having scientific research that gave answers to why he changed and it being a common symptom made my dad feel better.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Some old guys are creepers, no doubt. Some of them suffer from advance aging. I encourage you, if you don't know already to read about dementia and Alzheimer's (specifically the hyper-sexuality part.) They are a bitch of a disease.

Things like dementia and Alzheimer's scare the **** out of me. If I get them I wont wait around. No thanks, no way, no how. I will hold a giant, huge BBQ with all my family and friends. probably all weekend long. Then one last night with my wife if she is still here. Wine and dine her. Then arrange it so I never wake up.

If you want to do the most you can to prevent Alzheimer's get plenty of quality sleep. It is during the deepest part of sleep that the cells in your brain open up and get rinsed with fluids to remove the plaques that cause alzheimer's. As a really cool double whammy, as those plaques build up they make it harder to get quality sleep.

Nothing to be proud about if you generally live off 4-5hrs of sleep a night. You're probably a moody jerk as a result and you are significantly increasing your risk of developing dementia.

Do you have a ratio? Is there any way to know the actual ratio?

Are you suggesting something along the lines of 1000:1, 100:1, 10:1?

And in the end, do we do away with the notion allegations require evidence and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty?

I assume the vast majority of sexual assault allegations are honest and truthful. I also assume that not 100% of them are.

the reason I ask for a ratio is because the answer will indicate that Joe is constructing what we understand as a "false equivalence"-- when we try to appraise two opposite outcomes as the same in frequency, and/or severity. When I ask her if she regrets doing it, she says almost yes. The process was so brutal and traumatizing that she honestly doesn't think she could ever go through it again.

By characterizing a reporting of a sexual assault as something that "could be real, could be fake" (and implying that the outcomes are equally likely) flies in the face of the fact that the overwhelming majority of sexual assaults are true, and that the invented ones make up the *VAST* minority.

Am I asking for a system where one is guilty until proven innocent? Nope!! However this drivel about exaggerating the frequency of how much women lie about their experience surrounding sexual assault is actually what makes this process so torturous for women, and why swaths of them never bother reporting it anyway.

I have a friend who's currently dealing with a psychotic ex-partner who's telling everyone that he raped him (and I guess i don't know for sure-- but I'm very very strongly sure that he isn't). And I'm aware of the damage that she can do to his reputation.

But in 24 years of life this is the first time I've come across this sort of situation-- I think every single close female that I'm currently friends with has a story about sexual assault and I only know *one* who went to court with it (and got the guy expelled from law school, and he got charged as well).

It's wild how much either party is willing to defend their establishment.

To the Dems trying to sweep the Bernie **** under the rug to the Republicans with Moore.

In the year 2030 everyone will be forced to wear penis and vagina cameras.

wut Bernie ****.

The Dona Braizle campaign crap I bet.

As for your other posts. I also believe that the vast majority of these claims are true. But enough are not that you cannot just automatically presume guilt. We need to take the pressure, guilt, judgment and stigma out of the process for the bene. Like the option to not face the accused in court. But the process absolutely needs to be played out and I staunchly support the "innocent until proven guilty" mantra.

I say this as someone that went through this abuse as a child and nothing was done.

This. The right to choose death should be a real thing, with no repercussions. No different than the abortion arguments, I should be allowed to choose what I do with my body and by extension my life, including ending it.

Agreed. My dad just had prostate cancer surgery. Had a great surgeon--like second best guy in the country good evidently--some Asian dude out of the Philly/UPenn area. Anyway, incontinence and impotence are issues. Especially the former. He's slowly getting better. It's been just two months. And he was told recovery can take up to three years. But I can't help but think he won't want to live if he's leaking and unable to get it up. He's sort of Hemingway-ish like that only minus the chauvinistic, douchey qualities.

I actually haven't heard any conservatives on talk shows fail to decry the 32/14 age gap/illegal exploitation of a minor issue. Some say they don't actually know what happened.

Some say pedophilia is not curable, that people who get into it never change. I disagree. I don't know, I don't think anyone knows that, or can know it. If someone wants to change, I think he can.

In that case, I don't think it is relevant to his politics today.

The real reason some have dug up the charges has nothing to do with some zealot who really is on a tear to make our leaders moral and good. It has everything to do with the politics of power. The RINO and other progressives just can't bear to have a Bible-thumping cretin braying about God in the US Senate. OMG.

So I think the status-quo mongers are making a fundamental mistake. Americans generally will resent, more and more, all the people who keep pushing the progressive ball up that ideological hill. And the harder they push, the faster it'll all come tumbling down.

Change needs to keep pace with people as much as people need to keep pace with change. Gradualism is the only way stable change can be achieved.

Stomp on a Bible-thumping sinner who's singing the praise of a merciful, healing, and forgiving God, and ten new converts will spring up from that bootprint.

Yes Babe that makes a lot of sense. Roy Moore would be the first and only bible thumper in the Senate, that's why he's hated so much. It has nothing to do with him molesting high school girls. Thank god you are here to clear that up.
