I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed formally yet, but Real Salt Lake are killing it this season. They are 2nd place in the league, just a few points behind LA Galaxy.

Last year at this time, RSL were fighting for the last playoff spot, ending the season 10-10-10 (I think), and taking everyone by surprise.

This year, as defending champions, there is a target on RSL's shirts, and so far they've done well to build a run towards repeating.

Some offense-minded guys to keep in mind on RSL:

Alvaro Saborio: guy has scored many times, and is good with the ball around the net.

Paulo: new dude from the Brazilian soccer system. Scored his first goal in his first game with RSL on Wednesday vs Toronto.

Robbie Findley: After an impressive 2009 championship season, he was chosen to represent RSL on the 2010 World Cup squad. He simply couldn't get the ball in the net during the World Cup tourney, and ever since he's been a shell of his former self. I'd love to see Robbie find his stride going into the playoffs.

DEFENSE

Beckerman: see pic below
Beltran: underrated defense, consistent
Jamison "Mother ****ing" Olave: also see pic below

Maybe some of you guys that like to post stats can do that here, because I'm just writing on my feelings and memories.

This is my favorite sport memory of my adult life:

(at :07, you get to see Donovan do a bump of cocaine)

I remember at :53 when Morales was ordered off the field due to injury, seeing him crying...it was an emotional way to start the game.

Then Gaylaxy scored.

Then 2:38...

And then PKs:
David Beckham's lame ****ing haircut and arm pump
Donovan's weak pre-shot ritual, skying it. LOL

Robbie "RSL" Russell...watching that shot hit, and him sink to his knees, then the rest of the team rans at him in celebration...still brings tears to my eyes.

RSL's goalkeeper, Nick Rimando, was the MVP. And rightly so:

UB, I might hate on soccer, but dude, nice thread. I'd give you plus 2, but I already did a little while ago. Anyways, I wouldn't mind going to a Real game and if you ever have an extra ticket, you got a friend in me. :D

Thanks, dude. I don't post with passion much anymore, but RSL is something that makes me so happy. I grew up in Sandy, so seeing a beautiful stadium blocks away from my old haunts is unbelievable. The games are a lot of fun, too, because we're just a powerhouse in the league.

I usually get to a game a month, at least. I'll let you know if I can score an extra ticket. Every man woman and child needs to be in the presence of the MLS Cup Trophy.

I do wish that RSL would use this as their slogan:

Real Salt Lake: **** you!!!

Here is a picture of the David Beckham jersey we peed on all game, and threw it into my buddy's firepit to celebrate the championship. Soaked in urine, and set on fire. YEAH!!!

It's prohibited to talk about RSL on a Jazz site. If the Millers ever found out, I'll bet they would cancel any chance Jason and the rest of us ever have at arranging another night out through the Jazz organization.

Checketts is persona non grata with the Millers. Larry H. felt he was a traitor by going to NY and tried to screw him at every turn, including putting pressure on Utah politicians in an attempt to squash the stadium deal.

As much as I admire the Millers for buying the Jazz and keeping them in Utah, I have a hard time understanding their vitriol when it came to Checketts. Ruthless business people those Millers. If they had their way, there would be no other sports teams in SLC and Ken Garff and Mike Miller would be run out of town.

Tonight RSL play Arabe Unido in Panama for a CONCACAF Cup game. Arabe are total ****ing floppers. Still, look for RSL to come out 2-1.

I was at the Toronto game when Paulo scored that goal and I think he should have scored two he just miss touched the first one.

Robbie has been bad at finishing ever since he missed that goal in the world cup game. He cost us that game in Seattle a few weeks ago too. I was a big fan of his and I still am but he needs to go to a sports psychologist or something.

I will be there this Saturday as part of a friend's bachelor party so GO REAL!

LAG just lost to RBNY tonight. If we can get a result verus the Crapids we'll be sitting in first place with 50 points and a better goal differential than LAG.

Real Salt Lake : **** You!!!

Nice thread UB, are you in a SG?

I got the chills just watching that highlight video. We shoulda won that match in regulation though. Oh well. We won it and Russell's celebration was perfect. A sports moment I will always remember.

RSL pulls off the tie against Colorado with 30 seconds left in the match tonight. The stadium nearly blew apart when RSL scored.

I went ****ing nuts when Borchers hit that goal. Lost my voice. Spilled beer on a kid.

Good game.

Would have hated for my friend's bachelor party game to involve an RSL loss. Great game though cannot complain about a tie especially when we are playing our second team.

Section 2, row U, seat 15?

No I didn't spill on your kid.

I was actually on row H sec 35. Poor girl's dad tried to act tough after I profusely apologized. Embarrassed himself miserably.

Wasn't my kid. Just some kid sitting behind me. And when it was pointed out what he had done the ****** simply shrugged his shoulders with absolutely no apology.

That's lame. It's gotta go both ways. Parents take the risk of being accidentally doused with beverages, so drinkers should be willing to apologize sincerely.

"Sorry kid for spilling my beer on you. I'm gonna have to ask your dad to pay me $8.50, cuz I know you aint got **** for cash. You're five."
