Rubio from deep

I just did super quick math and came up with 39.2% since January 1st. I think that’s wrong too and should be a little higher since I only had decimals to go off of and rounded down on makes and up on attempts.

And 31% for the whole year. Just how terrible was he shooting the first two months? 20%?

Credit QS

Ricky has been shooting wide open 3's from his spots. His shooting has improved because of great shot selection and the confidence from a coach to be willing to set him up for a 3 point shot. Rather than hide Ricky's shortcomings QS worked on erasing them. That's great coaching

I have him at 31/82 (37.8%), including 4/5 today @NOP, since we changed calendars.

In 2017, he was 37/129 (28.7%) in a Jazz uni.

Rubio just hits cold stretches where he goes 0-2 or 0-3 for multiple games and it tanks his percentages. Before tonight he was 1/13 for the month in 5 games.

Rubio has gotten under my skin and I've never really cared for him as a Jazzman. That said, I absolutely respect his defensive motor. Dude is underrated on the defensive end and hustles like no one's business.

I'm glad to see him improve so much this season. Hopefully he keeps gelling and the Jazz keep winning.

I think it's time for me to eat some crow in regards to Rubio.. I pretty much saw him as bench fodder and really didn't see much point in having him play. He appears to have improved considerably.

Time will tell whether the consistency is there..but I feel that I probably should have given him more time to get used to the system before discounting him. He still has a lot of room for improvement..

eg.. his layups are still rubbish, and he still randomly throws a three point shot up when there is a guy covering him and plenty of time on the shot clock. But he at least is making an effort to balance the shoot/pass ratio which was heavily skewed to one side.. For the most part though, his improvement has paralleled the Jazzs' which is a good sign.
