Rubio from deep

Rubio is struggling to get alley-oops to Gobert, but there was a play against the Pels that could work all the time:
Rubio run a pick 'n roll with Gobert and dribbled to the free throw line, jumped falling to the left like he likes to do, and his shot was grabbed and dunked by Gobert. Rubio supposedly had just missed the shot by a foot, or maybe it was an intended pass from the start. It doesn't matter. The thing is, defenders saw Rubio doing the shooting motion, read it as a shot and waited for the rebound. Gobert saw the miss/pass and dunked it uncontested.

If they run that play at least once every game from now on, I guarantee it works everytime. Stop the blatant alley-oops, go with the fake shots.

Per Goon: "In his last 17 games, Ricky Rubio is averaging 16.1 points, 6.7 assists and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 42 percent from 3-point range."

In March, he was 1-13 from 3-point range before his 4-5 performance against NO. So <28% for the month. You can often cherry-pick stats to support a certain viewpoint; Locke does it all the time. The truth is, Ricky is still 41%/32% for the season. He had a dismal Nov/Dec, followed by a good Jan/Feb and is now reverting back to his mean. Any player can have a good game or two, but Rubio's just not a good shooter and teams can still largely ignore him. Fortunately he's a good defender. But on offense, he reminds me of Trey Burke. When Trey started, Hayward was largely ignored. Against NO, Mitchell was often just an observer while Ricky dribbled around looking for his own shot. When Ricky was out, Donovan was able to attack and score. Ricky dribbles and shoots WAY too much.

I am proud of the work that Rubio has obviously put in. In January before he got injured he really helped start the team in a winning direction alongside the rise of DMitch and the return of Grobert. One thing is for sure... Rubio has worked hard and improved. Way to go Tricky Ricky... Juan Stockton... El Mano... The Octopus... The Theif... El Mago...

Keep leading us to the playoffs baby!

If Favors had a single go-to move that made him an actual offensive threat. A nice little up and under, or a spin to the rim, or jump-hook, or a little floater in the lane. Some way to score within the inner circle. Then he would be so much more effective. Yeah the mid-range shot is ok, although he is only ok at it and it is the least efficient shot to take in the entire game. But something that gave him some oomph. Hell even Gobert is developing footwork and some back to the basket type moves that are really paying off. Favors seems stationary in this facet of his game. I always said, give Gobert one move around the rim to score and he will be exponentially more effective, well he has a few little things he does around the rim now and look at the juggernaut he is. Dangerous on both ends, in his own way. Favors needs this.

Favors doesn't have much of a problem scoring in the lane or at the rim. That's his best area on offense.
