@utahjazz: NBA Defensive Player of the Year Results:

1. Kawhi Leonard
2. Draymond Green
3. DeAndre Jordan
4. Anthony Davis
5. @rudygobert27

I'm thrilled that Rudy got 2 first-place votes. One of them even came from somebody in Charlotte. The other was from Jody Genessy of the Deseret News.

Not Jazz-related, but to me only a moran would put someone in 1st or 2nd place that missed about 22% of his team's games.

TBH I am THRILLED with this! 5th!! HAHAHAHAHA yes!!! YES!!!!!

From 5th this year to 1st next year. What he showed to end the year, with an off-season to work on conditioning/body development and filling what tiny little defensive holes his game has should produce a defensive beast the likes of which we haven't seen since Ben Wallace or Olajuwon.

Exactly. No one will be able to convince me that Gobert has not already seen this and isn't pissed about it. Jersey #27 anyone?

He is going to use this all off season and next season. He is going to bust his but and come back with as big of a jump as he just took. He is going to go nuts on this league. I seriously want to see him make a player cry on the court, just mentally break them.

This would be so epic. I haven't seen anybody cry on an NBA court since LHM. Who would you most like to see sob next? Kanter might be a good choice.

Kanter, Griffin, Melo, Matt Barnes, JR Smith and CP3 are all high on my list.
The crazy thing is that this is the exact list that came to my mind when I first read your quote, except that I didn't think of Melo or CP3 (who I do not hate as much as the average fan seems to) and I did think of Delonte West (who I realize is not even in the NBA) and LBJ (because it is almost impossible to imagine this actually happening). Funny that we both thought of Matt Barnes. What a ******* that guy is.

Aren't both Draymond and Kawai RFAs this summer?

Do the jazz go crazy all in on the defense and try to steal away one of those two? Think of the defense of Gobert, favors, Kawai, Hayward and Exum.

And add Dwight howard to the crying list. He is unstable, insecure, thinks he is king and beat his child.

I was telling my wife how much of a tool he was last night haha. She looked at him and all she had to say was "yeah he's a tool. Ugly to"

You add Leonard (Finals MVP, DPOY, career stats 16.5 ppg, 37% 3s, 49.6 FG%, 6 rpg, 1.8 apg) to this team and trott out a starting line up of Gobert, Favors, Leonard, Hayward and Exum with Booker, Hood, Burks and Burke on the bench and that is the best defensive team in the NBA and a top 4 seed in the west imo.

Plus he is only 23 and fits PERFECTLY into this teams mold and age set for the next decade.

Spurs will never let that happen but I'd be on cloud 9.

Jordan is horribly overrated defender. Haberstroh had a great piece about it...

Green got hosed. Also, I get that Anthony Davis gets stats but that defense is not good and he has Omer Asik next to him.

Kwahi is probably the best defender, but missed too many games.

Kind of saw it as a tossup between Green/Leonard with Jordan and Davis both being a bit over-rated. As always some bad votes at the bottom... Lebron/Butler and the like. Thought Ibaka should have got some and I had Gobert at #3 myself.

What nonsense. I understand Gobert not winning it. He was a complete unknown until half way through the season, and he ended averaging only 26 mpg. While Leonard is a great defender, he missed too many games, and haven't done anything special on the defensive end this season. Green on the other hand is the main reason why GS could switch on everything, as he can guard every position on the floor. He is the pivot around which their league-leading defense revolves. He should have won.
