Rudy DPOY - Sam Amick is dead to me

I think Gobert wins DPOY. His advanced stats are unbelievable, and he's starting to get a lot of attention. I think he's got a good chance.

Westbrook wins MVP, although it should be Lebron or Kwahi.

manute Bol...non of these ****ers ever did what Rudy does

I was curious about this claim... You need to look up Bol's block stats man. He had 11 seasons of > 5 blocks per 36 mins, 7 seasons of > 6 blocks per 36 mins, and 2 seasons of > 7 blocks per 36 mins. Hell Manute Bol averaged 5 blocks a game for a whole season while only playing 26 minutes a night.

Rudy has never even broken 4 blocks per 36 mins for a season (career high rate of 3.4 per 36 mins).

This made me want to look at shawn bradley as well. Turns out Bradley had 10 seasons with a greater blocks per 36 than Rudy's career high.

Rudy does lots of other stuff that those guys didn't do, he's a hell of a rebounder for one, not to mention altering shots, as well as heart, grit, etc, but as far as "utilizing raw length", **sarcasm alert** --> Rudy may even be underperforming with blocking shots.

Keeps him on the floor. Picks and chooses to avoid foul trouble, IMO. I recall coaches interviews where they were telling Rudy that blocks aren't the most important pursuit.

Come on, giving it to Green wouldn't be an outrage at all, the guy isn't big yet he can defend all position and is a key in what the Warriors have been able to do the last 3 years.. Green/Gobert is to me a toss up, Green will win it probably. If someone else does then it's an outrage.

Rudy is ahead of Draymond in most advanced stats. It's not that close of a race. If voters are looking at it objectively.

He challenges the shot attempt and then is able to get back and get the rebound... it's amazing honestly.

And the Dubs are #1 in the NBA on defense too.

True but they have more guys that are good at defense. Klay and Iggy are elite. Durant and Zara both do some really good things out there.

Hill and Hayward are good but Hill has missed a lot of time. Ingles is good now. I just think any defense Gobert is a part of will be good because others can gamble or play up... not sure the same can be said for Green and Kwahi.

Gobert isn't completely matchup proof himself... stretch bigs can lift him away from the basket. I just think his defense is more essential and harder to plan around and that he can carry more bad defenders than Green.

It would be fair to give it to Green but if they do account for bitchness then Rudy is the clear winner.

Manute is a massive outlier.. he's a giant.. Rudy is not.. Manute is the only player in NBA history who can touch the rim flatfooted..

There's no doubt Rudy blocks shots in a more athletic league..

Just look at one of the blocks he had on Porzingis last night.. KP's 7'3 facing up and driving in from the permitier, and Rudy almost makes it look like he's a Hawk swooping in to snatch a humming bird from mid air with the way he recovers.

The list of players that will even challenge Rudy at the rim is dwindling. It is hard to block shots when they refuse to come at you. Bradley blocked a lot of shots but people weren't afraid of him. Rudy turns players into jump shooters. Bradley did that in high school, Rudy does it in the NBA.

Tons more 3 pointers in today's NBA (many fewer blocking opportunities), so looking at per 36 is not really a fair comparison.

This is also a very valid point, in my opinion.

Agreed totally. But the original premise was that bol and bradley never did anything with their length, which is obviously not true. I was just showing that they indeed did a lot.
