Rudy Gay trade proposal

This thread is a very good reason not to ever go after Gay. In all honesty Gay is almost as big a waste of money as AK was. The Grizz did better in the playoffs last year with out Gay then with Gay this year. There's a good reason they would like to trade him, they are better off without him, just as we are better off without him.

Well, he's a good player, but not for that money. And his role in the team is overrated.

Just like Big Al - he can be a good fit from the bench for 7-9mil a year, but for a primary role player - he's not good enough.

Gay is talented enough to be a superstar, he just doesn't seem to have the desire. There is no way Gay would ever come off the bench for any team in the NBA, he is that good but his contract is overpaid. I would only do this trade if we gave up Jefferson and Harris and got Gay + Draft pick in return

Such an easy joke, but I always laugh at it.

Gay is one of those players who should be paid like 10-12 million a year, but he gets 15-16.

The Grizzlies have really hurt themselves in a couple different ways.

First, they have overpaid for everyone on he roster. Conley is paid too much, Gay is paid too much, Gasol is making a lot of money. I guess Allen is the only one with a decent contract.

Second, because if all if those contracts they will have to throw in extras (picks, cash etc...) to move any of their guys that have large contracts. It is dumb small market ownership like that, that hurts the other small market teams.

It's teams like this that Utah needs to take advantage of. Be smart, like the Pittsburg Steelers. The Steelers are constantly cutting their stars, and grooming their replacements. Utah should never overpay for anyone. They will only hurt themselves.

The NBA & NFL are two different beasts. Stars are much more important in the NBA than the NFL. Also, Ben Roethlisberger rapes females.

With the new CBA, and Dallas and LA giving players away to avoid the luxury tax, it is a lot more similar than a lot of us realize. And both leagues are driven by stars.

Deron is going to realize this this summer when he can start over in NJ, Port, Dallas or LA, or come back to Utah and win right away and a long time after that. The last CBA has changed the league, GM's realize this, reality hasn't settled in for fans and players yet.
