Rudy Gobert be our Tim Duncan?

Will Rudy Gobert be as good as Tim Duncan?

Rudy needs to bulk up more and develop some offensive moves to increase his confidence and aggression on the offensive side. His game isn't that much like Duncan. Maybe Alonzo Mourning though

Or, alternatively, people just need to pass him the damn ball when he calls for it. . .

How did we get to this in half a season? People were hoping that Rudy would be a starting caliber center (maybe top 20) center one day. Now some people are not just saying that Rudy will be a top 10 or even 5 center. Nope. They are saying a top 2 or 3 center of all time. Has the Jazz fan base ever fallen in love that much with a player?

I was hoping best case scenario that Rudy Gobert would be like a center version of Damian Lillard. Damian Lillard is that good character top 5 in position (mostly 1 way) player that played a huge part of turning the Trailblazers franchise around. I thought this was homerish. I guess I wasn't that homerish.

See Siro, reason I did this thread is to see just how big of Gobert homers jazzfanz are cuz I was seeing ridiculous expectations. The amount of homerishness even exceeded my expectations.

To be fair, most of the people in the poll didn't think Rudy would reach the level of Tim Duncan. It's mostly BawseDawg that's taken on a fish-for-Burks on steroids level of homerism for Rudy's future. With that said, Tim Duncan has split his time between C and PF and he came into the league with a more fully developed offensive game, but Gobert's defense is likely higher. Sure hope that Rudy gets to play with guys like Robinson, Parker, Ginobli and Leonard and have Quin be anywhere near Pop or Budenholzer. Any of those things happen and he'll have a shot at contending.

People have lowered expectations, because he didn't get a lot of minutes last year. Rookie years are so important for a fanbase, and after his people just assumed that at best he would be a good role player. And because he wasn't a high draft pick, people naturally expect less from him. I'm telling you, if we had picked him in the top 5 where he deserved to be picked, and got 30 MPG last year then everyone would be agreeing with me. I see past the 'stats' I know a great player when I see one. The only thing close the Jazz have had in the last 30 years is Karl Malone. So they forget what greatness is like. And they are afraid because if they get their hopes up, they may be let down. Trust me, Rudy will not disappoint us. He will be the best defensive player in the league for the next decade and average 20+ a game. quote me on it.

Hater.

This thread is an insult to Rudy. Duncan is barely, maybe, if he's lucky, a top ten player in NBA history. Rudy has had songs written about his exploits before he was even born. Rudy Can't Fail. Google it, YouTube it, whatever. I heard it on the radio just the other day. Really sad how some on JazzFanz feel they have to overcompensate and downplay Rudy's greatness in misguided efforts to be objective and reasonable.

LOL This thread has been fun to read.

Rudy will be the greatest center the Jazz have ever had, and no one should be able to argue against that. He has improved so fast...who can say how great he may become.

Back before everyone started getting on the Rudy bandwagon, I said I can not wait to see the starting lineup become Rudy, Favors, Hayward, Burks and Exum, but not even I thought Rudy would be this good so quickly.

Don't bother saving me a seat on the bandwagon...I might qualify as the driver. Wink.

I think Rudy Gobert will be Michael Jordan in Wilt Chamberlains body and Reggie Millers shooting. I heard he got an invite from Tony Stark to join the Avengers as well as a letter from Hogwarts do the the magic he displays on the court.

Very few players have careers like Duncan, probably including Rudy. Though Gobert will be good maybe even great I doubt he hits Duncan level.

But I hope he does.

Duncan plays such sound defense and even though Rudy might be a better defender (we have no idea how good Gobert is since he has never played a playoff game) Duncan is a solid defender, good passer, great rebounder, great teammate and one of the most reliable scorers ever in the NBA.

Your either gonna seem like a genius or biggest homer since Justin Bieber fangirls. I hope you turn out to be genius but if I was a betting man, I would bet on the latter.

I support this high level of homerism. Hell, if we wanted staid analysis we would be watching BBC documentaries on the insects of Madagascar. Screw that! Bring on the unbridled optimism. Spread a little of that to Exum as well. . .

I realize this thread is for jokes and stuff, but the people calling Tim Duncan a "solid" defender are complete and total morons. Duncan was a great defender, and is still a good one today. ****, the guy is 38 and he's averaging something like 14/10/2. He's one of the best of all time.

I honestly don't know if Bawse Dawg is joking or serious :/

There's 15 who have voted in this thread alone. People actually voted for 'not even close' SMH!!! Haterz.

Gotta say the effort has been good but the z is a little much even for a planned troll job.
